I tried Cape Outfitters with no luck. Anyone know where to get one? If not could anyone give me some measurements of one?

It's been 15-20 years since I've seen those things. They used to be available for H&Ks too.
Neat little devices that really help prolong the life of your brass.

I'm sorry, I haven't got a clue where to get one.

Regards,
Mike

I got a brand new one from a guy in reply to a posting on the Bowers Class III board. Its a metal piece attached to a piece of rubber. I'm going to use it on my Galil if it fits.

Haven't found any other source. The Galil .308 really dings the side of the brass, so hopefully this will prevent it.

DaveL111,
Could you post a pic of it?

Check this pic of case damage done by my .308 VEPR rifle. Resizing doesn't touch the case damage on the side of the case. My only hope is to find a Valmet buffer or make one. A dent wouldn't bother me but it is a crease with sharp edges. I have reloaded lots of 7.62x39mm with dents with no problem but they didn't have the sharp edges of the brass fired in the VEPR.

You'll have to find a way to "thin" the buffer or it won't clear the operating handle when it cycles...after you "thin" it you have to remove some of the rubber from the buffer to get the handle to reliably clear when it cycles. And it really didn't help that much(after removing the rubber) but the brass did land closer. The dings in the brass are not that big a deal(they come out when you re-size). If you're worried about pounding your neighbor with spent casings get a brass-catcher(or a screen). When I tried this, the Valmet buffers were "cheap & plentiful"...

Just my $.02...

I have one Valmet port buffer. Bought it for my Galil but it won't fit. I'm going to try and have some fabricated for the Galil by using this one as a template.

How much do you think they would cost?

How about the one you have after you use it as a template(what would you want for it)?

Dave,
If you do figure it out, and want to sell them, I'll take you up on one. Just let us know brother!
Cheers,
Mike

I got mine from Rob Sickler about a week ago. At that time, he had 3. 1 was sold, I bought the other one, so he may have 1 left.
It was $25.50
