Yes it is true that S.O.G. Southern Ohio Gun, has very cheap Austria Hirtenberger 308 ammo. But they always say "You get what you pay for" In the case of Sog this is certainly true! Sog has the worst customer service I have every received in all of my dealings with firearms. Not to mention false advertisement in there products. I ordered 1000rds of Austria Hirtenberger 308 ammo, for $139.75 I was shiped 200rds, 1 battle pack and billed 29.95 plus shipping. They had forgot to mention these were "OPEN" battle packs and the ammo was very discolored and brown looking. So I called sog and waited on hold for 20 min. After I finally reached someone, and they said they would ship me the remainder of the 800rds. They then charged me the 29.95 per 200rd battle pack. and the full shipping price again. So I called back customer service and waited on hold 20min. again, I asked them to fix the mix up. They said "NO". But they will credit my account for the $2. per battle pack that they charged over. That still does not help the fact these were open battle packs.. So in the end I get 1000rds of ammo for the price of $170. But it is stil open ammo. So I sugest to all: "If you are looking for 308 ammo look elsewhere then sog.

I am sorry that you had to be the one to get screwed by SOG. I have never patronized them and NEVER will! Screwing you, is like screwing me.

Its bad business! That type of business shrivles up and blows away. They have effectively turned off a potential customer by screwing you. What a bunch of assholes. Papa

That's a shame getting screwed like that because Hirtenberger 308 is the finest surplus ammo I have ever shot. With my Rem700, it is easily 1-moa ammunition.

IMHO

The CZ52 I got from them was rotten. They told me they'd send me another one, but that they would not check it to make sure it was better than the POS I got. This means I would pay around $10 to ship it back, $20 for another transfer fee from my FFL, $15 for another Missouri background check ($45 total) for a "chance" that I "might" get lucky and have a better pistol (which should only have cost $125). I kept the shitty one I got and only fired it once.

I was pretty dissapointed with them.

Thanks for the heads up. I've heard enough about this company to know I should stay away. That was really lame what they did. I won't give them my business.

As you know there is always 2 sides to a story.
I have literally done hundreds of deals with SOG and they have always stood behind their products. This may be a fluke on the .308 ammo. As far as i am concerned you might have got a raw deal, but I have always been treated very fairly and there pricing was usually unbeatable!

I have never been screwed by SOG that could be because based on all the bad reports I have read I have never bought anything from them.

I bought a case of the Hirtenberger from SOG also. The wooden case had obviously been exposed to moisture and termites had eaten into the case, through the plastic and into the cardboard boxes leaving the ammo discolored.

When I called to complain they knocked $10 off of the price (not exactly generous on their part). I decided to keep the ammo and test it and fortunately it shot very well. I will not risk it again though.
