shot 200 rounds of IMI .308 thru my post-ban Yugo M-90 RPK version modified by adding a SA-93 bulgarian thumbhole stock. At 50 yards with open sights i hit all rounds in the black. i was using a NRA standard 100 yard small rifle target. At 100 yards i hit 18 out of 20 rounds in the black on average. I was very happy, because i think i am a crappy shooter. I also took my Norinco 7.62x39 and i did not do nearly as good with it. I noticed the .308 actually had less recoil than the 7.62x39. I am guessing that is because of the extra weight of the REAL rpk receiver and heavy barrel. And you should have seen the can of corn, peanut butter, peas (yuck) and gov't meat explode. A reloader said all the brass i shot was unusable because of the dents in the case. The dents are caused by the brass hitting the receiver cover. IS THERE A RECEIVER BUFFER TO STOP THE DENTING OF THE CASINGS ??? and last i want to say i think .308 is FAR superior to 7.62x39. Not a nock on AK's, just my opinon of my yugo compared to my norinco.

You'll find this true with a Yugo 762x39 also. Shoots like a dream. I don't care for Chinese ak's. cya

I have never seen any dents on the spent cases coming out my .308 Yugo, and I have put over 550 rounds through it. I shoot mostly Portugese FNM military ball with the adjustable gas system set on "2". Adjusting your setting might solve the denting problem.
I have also used a Buffer Technologies recoil buffer from the start. The only problem with the buffer is that it won't allow the carrier back far enough to use the cut-out in the safety lever to hold the bolt open.

The reason i use a buffer is because i have a SA-93 stock attached to my M-90 RPK. I have it attached by the pistol grip screw and i also have a drywall screw with a washer going into the stock from inside the receiver. You need the buffer to keep the rear of the bolt from hitting the drywall screw head. I have never tried adjusting my gas setting. i think it is on the middle setting curently. The brass flies about 5 to 10 feet out of my Yugo. My chinese AK throws the steel cases about 30 feet.
