How are the Turk Mausers from AIM??? Before I got the C&R license, I avoided those rifles simply because the transfer fee ($20) cost half as much as the gun itself. I like the looks for Joker's Turk, and was wondering if the AIM Turks were worth checking out, or if the cheap price is an indicator of the quality I'll receive.

Also, I've been checking, but can't remember where I read that the Turk Mausers have some important safety concerns I should remember.....

(I had this in the Turk forum, but moved it here temporarily in the hopes it would get some attention)

Avoid the "Good" Condition Turks, (ask JES AR15) and go for a VG or better rifle. The cheaper rifles are often sewer pipes, but do make interesting lamps...

I picked up 2 last year from Century, and the guns were sweet. Bluing was perfect and it had "new" (unfinished) wood. The T38 is safe too shoot.

Turks are among my favorite mausers, because everything about them is so cheap. A good gun can be found for less than $60 dollars and the ammo is under $6 for 70 rounds on stripper clips.

They are fun too shoot too!

1. I believe they still have them. I purchased this through a friend before my license. It is a wonderful purchase. VG

All the reports I and others on the board have given were on Century VG Turk Mausers for $59.97.

AIM even states in the add fair to good condition. I wouldn't buy a fair condition firearm unless you want it for parts.

Bought one at a gunshow $60 otd and $10 for a bayo.

This after I got to go through 15-20 or so they had so I found me a nice one.

By the time you pay for shipping etc, is it really worth the crapshoot?

Its not like these things are being priced at $100 at show...or maybe they are?

Actually Shawn AIM sometimes has the VG's but they all come from Century anyway. Yes if you want a rifle that's shootable and not hosed you must get the M38's that are VG rated. IMO the others are mostly parts guns. 50% chance the bores will be rusted dark sewer pipes in most cases.

it wasn't here that i saw the good reviews.

btw, the bore on this one is not bad at all. i'm going to shoot it just for the hell of it. and just because its so cheap ... errr... inexpensive, i may be able to sell it at the range .

oh, what color is the original finish on these ?

ok, its not a total waist, i can have a little fun with it (maybe sporterize ?) and its only $40.

Just two weeks ago I paid $40 for a Turk from AIM. I expected a beat up POS with a black pitted bore. I got the best looking damn Turk I've seen. The wood good, the bore was good and the bayonet wasn't all that bad either. A good gun for the money. I've always been happy with AIM's quality and customer service.
