well yesterday and...
its the best 150.00 I ever spent what a cool little pistol
went through two boxs of wolf with nary a burp and it shoots to POA so I am very happy
I gotta get rid of that military grip with the weird right hand thumbrest (I'm left handed)
so I ordered some of the walnut grips from makarov.com
I read in another post how the wolf ammo tends to tumble and some of the wholes in the target were jagged and odd shaped so I assume thats what happened why is that?
I think I'll pick up some of the S&B stuff next time
what ammo do you guys use?

The dumbrest grip is not military. That is what they have to put on it so it can be imported. Standard milspec grips are brown bake-lite with a star, E. Germans are dark brown, none have a dumbrest.

I do not know about East German in dark brown color, mine has flat (no thumb rest) black plastic grip.

Anything with a non-dumbrest grip is an after import modification. They have to be imported with one so they are not considered military. My E. German has no import markings and what *I* call dark brown, everybody else seems to call it black.

Is your's composit? I mean, if you look very closely, particularly at the inside, does it seem to be made of little bits of stuff epoxied and compressed together? Does it have a star in the center of both side panels? Does it have a lanyard loop?

Hey, I know where you going with that!

1) No lineard loop on the outside. The lineard goes in the grip.

2) Oh trust me, it is black. No mistake about.

3) The grip is plastic with outside surface being molded to look and feel like checkering

4) Finaly, no stars or circles with stars, or whatever else might come in mind.

This is Century import that I bought at a show a few years ago.

I have two maks I shoot mostly Barnaul and LVE have had no problems. The only ammo I had problems with is silver bear I would not buy that ammo.

Barnaul 9x18 is nice and hot, so you need that 17# recoil spring. However, it expands nicely and looks like it has great terminal ballistics.

This guy (http://www.goldenloki.com/ammo/gel/9x18/gel9x18.htm) has done the work for us. Muchas gracias.

Be seeing you.

those ballistics are way cool. I ordered a 1000 rounds of the Barnaul. I have not gotten it yet but it looks like it performs pretty well. Looking forward to trying the stuff out. BTW, does anyone know if the Barnaul has a copper jacket? Just wondering.

Yes, Barnaul is copper jacketed. You ought to check out the JHP, very rounded nose that opens up impressively. Looks like it was designed specifically for the Makarov. ;)
