Ok everyone has asked for this so here it is:

Break down of Yugoslavain AK/RPK/M-76's

1,400 7.62x 39 Folders
700 RPK
280 M-76 Countersnipers
1,120 .308 M-70s Standard Model
3,500 7.62 x 39 M 70 Standard Model

Pre bans imported prior to 1994 were 2000.
Here is the breakdown:
400 7.62 x 39 folders
200 RPK (40) in .308) and (160 in 7.62 x 39)
80 M76 8mm Countersnipers
320 .308 M70 Standard Model
1000 7.62 x 39 M 70 Standard Model

Post ban M-90 sold after 1994 there were a total of 5,000. Here is the breakdown:
1000 7.62 x 39 folders
500 RPK (400 in 7.62 x 39) and (100 in .308)
200 M-76 8mm Countersnipers
2,500 M70 7.62 x 39 Standard Model
800 M70 .308 Standard Model

The total amount of Yugo's imported was only 7,000 consistant with Customs/BATF Floats for pre-ban imports at that time. Same number for the Hungarian AKM/AKMS float. Hope this answers your questions about import numbers. As you can see the .308 Yugo RPK is the rarest of the two and the 8mm Countersnipers even rarer.

Good stuff AK expert..I got all of them x/ the 308 RPK, and the foldin stk AK. I had a chance to get the 308 RPK for 799. back in 96, but, oh well..I did pick up the 762 RPK, back in Dec for 900 w. the nite sites still on it, and the wood in the box. How is this one any different from the pre ban?? These nvr had bayo lugs on the RPKs did they?? I still think the Yugos are the tops, when it comes to AKs, though I knda like Poly Techs also.....Now if i could find some mags for that damn 8mm......

Louie,
I have a surprise!!!! I should have the 8mm mags ready to go in a few weeks. See my post under WTS guns on this page...If you go to the WTS board on WWW. Kalasnikov.guns.ru you will also see my post for Yugo parts. The only difference in the RPK M-90 was the designation...that's about it. Otherwise you have made a wise purchase.

Any idea of how many Yugos American Arms Inc. brought in?

Regards,
Mike

Mike American Arms only brought in a few in 7.62x39 from what he told me several years back when we last spoke. He still live in Alexandria, Va and keep a business unrelated to firearms. His imports were in 1982, I think he said there were under 10 brought in
due to cost...so most of them were dealer/sample rifles. He was really going after the full-auto market but there was more interest in the Ameleia..so he didn't import any based on lack of interest somewhat...and the Yugo cost(s) are very expensive units.

Can anyone shed any light on this kind of Yugo? Sounds like along the line of the ones all of you are talking about. I have one marked "Model AK Cal 7.62x39", It was imported by "American Arms Inc N.K.C-Mo", all those markings appear on the right side. On the left is marked "Zastava-Kragujevac Made in Yugoslavia". It has a serial number under 1500 and is new. It has reddish-brown walnut looking furniture with the fat wood pistol grip. Tritium flip up night sites, re-inforced receiver the whole deal. The selector markings are marked "safe" and "Fire". Would any of you happen to have any background info on that kind of rifle?? You say only 10 imported??

Cool, so out of the total of 140 imported RPK version in .308 i got 1. Mine is post-ban, but i modified a Bulgarian SA-93 wood thumbhole stock to fit. Sad, but true, i follow the laws. I did have a post-ban standard model in .308, but i upgraded to a Pre-ban standard model in .308 + $1200 in cash. Ouch is right. I start to wonder why i will pay $2000 for a rifle, but i drive a 1983 Ranger with rust all over it.
