I haven't had a chance to look at it much yet but my Schmidt-Rubin has arrived. I will post more after dinner.
My 5 year old and "His" K31 :)

I would give up a sock for a rifle any day.

Welcome to the board, rdymadeQ!
I had some time to check her out, The bluing is almost perfect, about 95%. Some wear near the muzzle where the cap sits. The rifle also came with a sling :). I pulled off the but plate, and it did have a note. Name, Regt. and address.
The Stock is pretty beat up, which is to be expected, for a shooter grade, I guess.
A question, why is it common for the buttstock to be so worn?

A Swiss mystery. Many theories, but neither the Swiss nor their rifles are speaking as of yet.
Minus- child missing sock
Plus- You got a muzzle cap.
Coincidence? I think not...

"The Crufflers children run bare foot"No joke. Your kids are barefoot. Neil's kids are hungry. I'm not even gonna ask REDSTAR...
Schuetz has been told that the butt stocks are so funked because of a combination of soldiers mistreating their gun (as soldiers sometimes do) and snow/water damage. Makes sense. If you stood guard duty on the Swiss-German border, up to your elbows in snow, your rifle stock would look ugly too. ;)

That makes perfect sense to me. Most of the finish is good on the rifle, except for the buttstock. It looks like it was soaked in water for years.
It is a pretty neat looking gun, I look forward to shooting it this weekend. :)
