Drove down to UPS during an extended 'break'. :D

This was the LAST MAS49/56 that Century had. I ordered it on 01/14/02. I've been worried that it was a POS, reject, retuned four times, garbage, broken down old lamp pole all this time since it was the last one.

SOG still has them though for $239.

I took it out of the box just to inspect the exterior and it looks minty and cherry. Whew. The wood is a nice light red color no dings or anything that I could tell from my brief visit with it out in the UPS parking lot.

I also picked up a MAS36 but didn't look at it, the box was ripped open and the wood looks pretty old and grimy.

I'll post a full report in the morning.

Well, I'm dog tired so for right now just let me say it's mint, perfect, beautiful. With all the stuff that comes with these and the condition I think it's the number one buy in a semi auto rifle right now. Even at $8.95 per 20 on new production ammo it's well worth the money. Kind of like the French M1 Garand or something. Really neat rifle. The bore looks to be chrome lined too. I'm glad I took the MAS plunge. Mine came with a cool Military manual written in French too. All the mags and accessories bagged in plastic with the date of refurbishment, December 1992.
Sling is in great shape.

My 36 I got today is going to look great when I get it all cleaned up. I need to repair a crack on the top of the buttstock, other than that the bore is really good, I'll use some Oxpho on the blue, it will be a sweet rifle when I'm done.

I'm a French gun collect whore now.

Welcome to the World of French Firearms. Sure they have hairy legs and pits and they've been passed around more than a bong at a Black Sabbath concert but hey, culture is culture. Enjoy.
