Well, I picked it up yesterday in Allentown from Slab Side. Nice guy. Sorry guys, the MAS on GunBroker is no longer for sale. It's mine, all mine. I couldn't wait to shoot it, so I went to the mountains. I am impressed. I was expecting this rifle to rock me. WRONG! A little more recoil than my SKS, IMO. Without any sight adjustment, I was shattering clay pigeons at 80-100 yds. I also had to try to bump fire it. hehe. I only did 5 rounds, but they went in about 1 second. Functioned flawlessly. The only problem I had was getting the ammo off the links. My fingers still hurt but, it was well worth it. So, if anyone wants to buy links for 7.5mm, I have around 400 rds worth. Just PM me or somethig.
I'd recommend one of these rifles to anyone. Accurate, easy to handle, and it looks tough as hell. I can't wait to get back out to the range.

I think the MAS 49/56 is a fun rifle to shoot.the only think is the cost of the ammo. one day I think it will go down I hope.

Congratulations. Glad you like it. Most people think the only good think to come out of France was French Fries. :D

Where is the safety located on the 49/56? I checked out a MAS 49/56 website but it only referred to (fig.16) but failed to include (fig.16).
Thanks,
Speedfish

It's on the right side of the rifle by the trigger. It looks like a button in front of the trigger guard but, it is a lever that swings tward the rear of the trigger guard, kinda like an SKS.
Forward position = Safety OFF
Rear Position = Safety ON

Thanks, for the info. I plan on getting one once my CRL gets here, provided I can convince the boss.
