Found two at a gunsmith shoppe in my neck o' da woods.

IIRC, the tags say "Webley Mark 4 .38" and one has "Army Finish" (As I recall it any way. It definately said "something finish") stamped into the side.

Seem to be in decent shape overall, but did not handle. Wanted to find out more before beginning the barganing process..:D

Thanks guys!

Ahh... the marvelous Webley revolver. One of my favorites. :D Did the hammer have a spur? If not then it's actually the Enfield No.2 Mk.I, not a Webley. The Webley has the hammer spur. The Mk.IV model is the one chambered for .380/200 (.38 S&W 200 grain). Depending on condition, I'd say $250 tops. They can be pretty accurate, even though commercial .38 S&W is a much lighter bullet than the 200 grain bullet that the gun was designed for.

Will Webley grips fit?

At least one had plastic grips with the Webley logo.

Yeah, basically the same design, just contracted to different manufacturer. Grips should fit.

Any idea how much the guy is asking for it?

$140 each.

THink I'll pop back in today and look a bit closer...:bigdeal:

EDIT: Hammer spur = Webley, correct? As in hammer can be thumb cocked for single action? I do remember one having a spur...yes, a closer look is definately warranted....

awp101, yeah the one with hammer spur is the Webley. Enfield removed the spur because some officers complained the spur caught on their equipment when they went to pull it from the holster.

Assuming the bore looks good and moving parts aren't too badly gummed up, I say go for it! Or get both and sell or trade one of them to your C&R brothers. Hint hint. ;)

That's not an unreasonable price if they are tight and have decent bores.

I initially thought the one I bought was loose as the cylinder would rattle all around, but once I cocked the hammer and then pulled the trigger, holding the trigger back I could see that it actually locked up rock solid.

Very pleasant revolver to shoot and makes a nice set with any No 4 MkI, MkII or Jungle Carbine.

Well, went back today and here's the report.

One is a Webley and the other is the Enfield!:D

Both in the 50-60% finish range, good solid grips (no cracks), with nice (no pitting :D bores).

Webley SN in the 105XXX digit range, all matching including cyl, very sharp rifling, tight lock up and stamped "war finish" on the left side.

Enfield is a 4 digit SN, nonmatching (not sure now, have to double check) and not quite as nice as the Webley (not too far off though). Again, tight lock up, clean bore (rifling not as sharp as the Webley).

Stampings all over both (proof marks?) and $140 each.

Oh honey? Where's the CC?
Edited for bad memory!
