I bought one of those preban Colts that say washington state patrol on the side of the receiver. Anyone know the best way to remove it? I figured a gunsmith but thought there might be a better way to do it.

Ifyou remove it you will bring the price way down. there are people that are looking for guns with things like that on it. so if I were you I would just put it away and keep it from getting wore out.

I guess I'll leave it alone. I picked up the rifle at a show in maryland in fall of 1999. I just got back from sea and had a wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket. I saw several of them floating around for about 3 months. There were several of them on the gunsamerica.com site. I guess they all got snatched up.
