Just got 500rd delivered from L.C. Enterprises today for $150 shipped. Chambered and cycled perfectly though my carbine is not "S" or "H" marked. Chambered the fifth round and the clip shot right out like it's supposed. All of the ammo is in boxes marked with a large S as well as 10 Stuck, the u has .. over it, 8mm M.30 scharfe S-Patronen B, V. 1938. Caseheads have four lines with 1938 a double headed eagle and either the Roman numeral I or IV. About 30% hav some verdigris and a little rust on the clips but overall it's not bad. L.C. even enclosed a hindwritten thank you. Nice touch IMHO. The clips are maked with either a Nazi eagle, a doubleheaded eagle which I believe is Austrian, an RV above IV, C or sidways horseshoe over a capital A, a shield with SF inside, a "W", H in a circle, R over C in a circle. Since this is probably more ammo than I will shoot in the near future I am wondering if it would be better to remove it from the boxes, which by the way don't show any damage or staining and wipe the ammo and clips down and store them in ammo cans with dessicant packs. Or should I just leave it alone and throw it, boxes and all into the cans?

If I were to wipe the ammo down would Mineral Spirits be the right thing to use?

P.S. I cycled the ammo in a safe enviroment and manner using a single round first to check that my rifle was correctly chambered. Any AD would have been safely contained. If the bolt was easier to strip I would have removed the firing pin. I took a shortcut but kept safety in mind.

Sounds pretty good. I'm still leaning towards one of the carbines.
