I'm interested. There's another dealer on the list, like JLD, that deals in em. I'd like one.
I heard one bad report from a bad about a great looking gun, but turned out to be a piece of shit; i.e., you could shake it and hear parts rattling. It's in here somewhere. I believe it to be an isolated incident.
Hope I'm not wrong.

That could be right, NC-Rebel. Confused em. I'm still learning.

No prob, CA. :D
All I've heard about the Molina is that they're decent shooters, but that the only parts that are interchangeable with Colt are the mags and the barrel. That may not be a big deal to some, but to me that's a legitimate issue, especially if you want to accessorize the gun or replace the grips, etc.
The biggest difference (besides the parts compatability) between the Ballester Molina and the 1927 Sistema Modelo is the grip safety. I have one of each and the 1927 that I got from JLD is in better condition than the Molina (but not by much). They are both good shooters and I have never had a problem with either one (but I only have ever fired ball in both of them). The 1927 has a very tight mag well (which was reported also over at TFL). So far the only mag that slides in smoothly is the one that came with the pistol. None of the Molina's, both the ones that came with it or aftermarket, give me this problem.

Hmmm....I've heard both ways. Most the talk is good and the biggest drawback pointed out is always parts interchange.
I think Tuco and Parallax Bill's forums may shed more light on these...also the 1911 forum may have information.
I was VERY close to buying one TODAY!!! But I just happen to come upon a VERY nice G.I. Inland M-1 Carbine that needed a home...so the Molina waits.

Neilwest,
I'm real ignorant on most guns, but Mauser Broomhandles...I know what they look like...that's it. What would be a cheap price should I come across one?

1. It depends on model, Ive seen Chinese for as little as 400.00 and German Mauser 96 types as high as a couple thousend. I would take anything under say 600.00

I bought one from SARCO a month or so ago. $224 for exc. arsenal refinished.
It's a winner in every category as far as I'm concerned. It is blued-a deep black/blue with new wood grips. I fired it for function and had no problems. I also bought some .45 mags NIW for $4.95 each. I took it to the pistol range and put all 4 of the new mags thru it rapid fire. At 15 feet there was a ragged fist sized hole in the center of the shoot'n'C I had on the silouette.
It's a fine shooting pistol.

Neil:
The pistol from SOG is near perfect. A little ramp polishing work needs to be done, and I've found that roundnose ammo 235 grain PMC works the best in her.
I'll have to get some pictures up soonest. I shot it last night 100 rounds, and it's accurate and feels good to shoot.

Roundnose???Its FMJ.:D 1911 style 45's were designed to fire FMJ exclusively. They generally dont feed other types of ammo very well.

The Ballester Molina is a nice gun. I've got one from JLD and 2 Sistemas, also from JLD. Never had a problem with any of them and have fed several different brands of ammo through them.
The only drawback to the Molina is getting replacement parts if something does go wrong.
