Well this just sucks, I was just told that the end has come on South African .223 in battle packs. No more left to import supposedly!:( :( Expect the price to rise a bit and then it'll be gone.

I wonder what else will come in to replace it?

why the stop in import? new import regulations?

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come for all foreign ammo. :(

Don't think that way. We don't need any negative waves here. That's distressing. :elbarfo:

My favorite stuff, Thanks god I just bought another three cases for this year. I'll be sweating bullets after the summer, let's see what turns up. Great stuff.

Darn, isn't that your bread and butter?

Read my post closer and you will see I said there is supposed to be NO MORE available to import from South Africa. I didn't say they cut off the import I said they ran out of the surplus at the source, South Africa.:p

WTF is going on over in South Africa Sheutz? Been shooting this Cheetah ammo a little bit lately, and it's from farther north, Zimbabwe, a Norinco tooled plant. Much hotter than Wolf.

Who shut down where you're talking about?

All I need to hear next week is WOLF is shutting down. :elbarfo:

 Am I posting in ancient Hebrew?

Nobody is shutting down anything. The 1980's vintage battle packed .223 South African ammo stockpiles have run out! That's all.

PMP animal boxed South African ammo (way underloaded and not very accurate I might ad) is still available.

So you've been shooting the Cheetah. HomerTHX1138 sent me 20 rounds. I measured them with a digital micrometer caliper. I found them to be of 3 distinct bullet diameters. .308", .3085" and .309". I plan on doing a chronographing and shoot for group evaluation with the ammo. Just don't known when is all.

Interesting about the Cheetah Scheutz.

Interesting . . . not the choice of words I'd use. Sad is more my selection of how to describe bullets that are #1 smaller than they should be and #2 vary so much. :(

I bash Wolf ammo for it's inaccurate nature in 7.62 and .223 loadings, but I've never measured projectiles that varied that much or were that small.

So what sort of group sized are you getting at 100 off of a rest TheBigCa?

I'm going to have to study a box Sheutz. So, far we've been just blowing up clays at 100 yards - nothing too technical. I got to see the differences for myself. Hmmm.

Speaking of that, I use a paper target I can print out on my Inkjet printer that is the size of the clay pigeon. This way you can see what your grouping will do relative to these much favored targets. It will show if you are just staying inside the diameter or are the shots grouping tightly.

We've been printing our own targets to, saving our cardboard. I think I'm going to build a portable stand that we can pack too and fro the battlefield.

Some of the distributors still have it. But the importers say they can't get anymore and soon the distributors and other wholesale houses will be out. If you want some, grab it now. In 3 or 4 months I bet it'll be all gone.

Oh and who told me . . . I don't blab . . . errr well too much :D ahem leak my sources. That's how I keep getting inside business scoops that I can alert the inner circle with.

So they shutting down ammo imports from all of Africa? Wow! ;)

Schuetz, I shot 40 rounds of Cheeta from a bench at 100 yards. No sandbag or gun rest - just my elbows and the magazine itself. Halfway through the 40 rd mag, I adjusted front sight. Really I had two distinct groups because of adjustment but even looking at them seperately, I'd say they were on the 5" magnititude. The funny thing is I had quite a few overlapping bullet holes. Perhaps this is a coincidence but maybe it had something to do with the various sized bullets you found.

I like this ammo because it is hot and clean (both externally and shooting); you don't get green hand syndrome after loading it. However, I wonder if Wolf is actually more accurate. One thing is, Vector's webpage says 1995 production, yet this is stamped 97.
 The quest for truth continues...

Why yes it is aliceinchains! However, the brass is softer than US brass and the primer pockets tend to be a bit shallow. Meaning . . . limited lifespan for reloading and you'll need to ream the primer pockets to depth or you'll have a lot of high primers. Still you will have something left besides a brass case that is going in the scrap can if you get the PMP animal boxed stuff.

Thank you for the information uncle.I would have not known that the brass was softer or that the primer pocket's needed reaming.I have bought a 500 round box of this ammo but have not shot any yet.;)
