MAS 36 project pics

I got a Century cracked stock MAS36 for $50, I completly stripped the weapons, cleaned the years of crud off it, lightly sanded the major dings. I just used wood glue on the crack it was minor at the top by the screw tang. This rifle had a black laquer finish to it originally, I could tell when I looked it the underside of the barrel that was protected, otherwise it was 90% gone. I took brownell's baking laquer and refinished the metal. It looks great now, I need to put some coats of BLO on it and it will be done. This is the pic after cleaning. I forgot to take a crud before photo. I'll post pics of the completed job when I'm done. Pretty sweet wood on this puppy underneath all the gunk. The pics dont do it justice.

No thats me, Redstars brother. I will not refinish my rifles, but Brother is always tinkering with his guns. He is actually becoming an accomplished gunsmith.

Yeah the wood is really grainy, I like it alot. I cycled some rounds through her this morning, smooth as silk, 100% better than she was when I got her, all sooty and dry and squeeky action, loose stock.

Lookin great I like the numbers in the stock, I just refinished the stocks on both of these using tong oil.

Damm, Digital photography, is tricky sometimes - getting the right lighting is difficult. I'm going to buy one of those lighting hood/thingies/kinda like an umbrella in action, sits on a tri-pod, just might help.
