Ooops wrong board. :D

WASR-10 conversion with US FCG and mag parts on (3) 40 round mags, welded open folder from Tapco via 1 Patriot of Many, I also put on three levels of Oxpho, steel wooling in between. The oxpho does wonders for that cheap Romanian finish:

Here it is making friends with my MAS 49/56:

Yeah that little French Tart was toying with Vlad's affections. He didn't even get any! That mag is loaded BTW and still is. Poor Vlad.

You can get a bottle of it from brownell's it's about 8 bucks and will last for many rifles. It's nickle sulfide or something like that, it's acidic. When you put it on white metal it turns it blue/black.

It's really easy to use, you rub some on the area with a cotton ball, let it sit for about 30 secs and then wipe off with a dry cotton cloth. Then you buff with 000 steel wool and repeat the procedure as often as you like, the more applications the deeper the blue. Works great for touch ups especially on the AK's. You just have to take your time and be thourogh.

This AK looks a heck of alot better in the blueing department since I did it. Still not as nice as a FEG or something but much better. With practice I think you can do a real professional job with this stuff.

Thanks for the info. I'd like to touch up my AK a bit.

1. Remember that AK's are over 50 years old in their design as well. That qualifies it as a C&R to me:D

Great job on the oxpho blue stuff. I'll give it a shot. Did you have to strip the old finish on the SAR before using it? I thought it's a cheap park job on SAR, does it matter?

no you can just do it right over the old finish, doesn't matter if it's blue or park.

SWEET....Looks like it's going to be a bitch though in 2004 to make that a folder again!
Okay maybe I'm being optimistic for once.....

I also need to pick up some of that oxpho blue yet....Just can't seem to get around to ordering the stuff....

Hey REDSTAR, it looks real good. I'm in the process of refinishing the wood on my new SAR-1, and I've some of the typical scratches and scuffs on mine. I like the looks of yours so well I'll think I'll get on-line and order some of that Oxpho stuff and give 'er a whirl.
