Who knows a source where I can buy these? I've seen them on eBay, but they seem kind of price heavy. What's a good place ot purchase them and what is a fair price. I need about 50. Thank you.

Wat ever you do don't put Turk 8 mm in a semiauto like a Hakim or G43! It will bust em up! Too much pressure!

Way to go Richard, I would have sold him clips 4 / $1.00 as a board member!

Schuetzenman-

I'm not doubting or flaming but how did you find this out? I've talked to people who have done this and had no problems...I"ve done it my self with my new Hakim and other than a lot of hot gas blowing in my face havent had any problems nor noticed any structural damage...just curious

I've run into posts by owners of Hakims that have had extractors broken off. You are lucky so far you must have gotten a batch of Turk that isn't thermonuclear in power like some of it or your gas system is not as wide open as normal. Don't know which it is but you will have a hell of a time finding the extractors and they will cost you dearly when you have to buy one.

Those rifles are set up for 198 gr. Yugo type ammo. the 155 gr. stuff from Interordnance seems to be safe too. Got a buddy that just got several cases of it and says it runs like a champ. Doesn't blast like turk does. He tested it in a bolt gun first rather than use his Hakim as the gunia pig.

I did see that but I was under the impression the Turk ammo was 198gr. Anyone know what the grain is on Sellier & Bellot over at Wholesale Guns and Ammo? If I dont go interordance that looks like a good deal too. Any advice on this matter would be helpful

Thanks for the info Zouave! I did have the presence of mind to buy some Portugese Ammo that looks like it is over 195grs so I'll just have to shoot that up. I found out the Seller & Bellot is 196 grs also.

Hrmm...turk mauser....hrmm....well since I have the ammo here.....:D

LOL, The Turks are a "blast" too shoot, just make sure if you do buy one spend the extra 20 dollars and get the VG $59 Turk. :)
The "Good" ones are pretty much wall hangers only.

Yes that's the ammo my buddy is using. I'm about to pickup 5 cases of it from him as he gave me a heads up on his trip to Interordnance.

I see Zouave has been taking care of you while I was off line. The turk is indeed about 155 grains. This alone is not the problem. The problem is the Turk ammo is loaded to almost 3,000 fps bullet speed and the gas operated weapons are not designed to take that kind of pressure. Turk ammo is safe enough in a Turk or any other type 98 sized action Mauser. But keep it out of the gas operated weapons.

This Romanian ammo is the same bullet weight but seems to be loaded down to 2700 fps so it's quite a bit slower than the Turk. I have reported my buds experiences with it, but haven't personally shot it yet. He says 100% reliable, no deep primers, made in the 1970's vs. Turk made in the 40's.

Ecuadorian 8 mm can be less than surefire for many rifles. They seem to have some hard primers. One will get numerous rounds in a box of 15 that won't light off on the first hit. But if you save those and run them back through they always go off on the second firing pin hit or at least they have for me.

Yugo 8 mm suffers from deep primer pockets and primers. Some rifles will have difficulty setting them off because of this. I've got one K98 that does fine with the Yugo and I have another that struggles with it.
