I have an RCBS Pardner, single stage reloading press. I've noticed that RCBS, while carrying a varied assortment of dies, is not always the cheapest. Can I use Lee or other manufacturers dies in my RCBS press? I thought the threads were different to make them proprietary? TIA

Email RCBS and ask them. I have a 1970 model Layman Turrent press that accepts RCBS, LEE, Hornady and Redding dies.

I thought about that but figured it would not be in their best interest to admit that cheaper dies can be used in their equipment. A friend of mine uses a Lee 9x19 die in his RCBS Rockchucker.

RS,
Fear not the different die maker! For thou wilst find a thread of a common nature doth reside amongst the industry of reloding. The noble thread of which I doth speak goes by the name of 7/8 X 14.

Redding, Lee, Lyman and RCBS all doth make stalwart dies to fit this noble pattern of thread! Yea verily I speak sooth!;)

Verily, thou hast lightened my burden in the extreme. Pray tell kind sir, canst the shellholder fromest one be used with the other?

Yea verily sometimes this may interchange but not always. RCBS and Redding I think doth interchange. But nei so for the fine smiths and tinkers of of the products Lee and Lyman. Thou wouldst be best served by the makers of RCBS as they for art the OEM's of such mysterious machines.
