HerrDok,

I just noticed that Springfield Sporters is selling a "non-shooting statement required" Carcano in 8mm Mauser! Used by the Italians under Rommels command.

Do you have one? What do you know about them?

Those are the very rare 8mm Carcanos. There is nothing wrong with them, and Springfield is only putting that in there due to incorrect rumors they have heard on Carcanos, so they are probably undervalued, too. How much are they asking? Is there a website?

Well that W-W stuff was a joke. It's collector grade because it was from the same lot of ammo Oswald supposedly used and is going at $60 right now on auctionarms.com.

I didn't know you were still ammoless, geez, I've gotten 4 boxes already here in my local area. Carcano ammo is not near as rare as 7.5 French or 8X56 Steyr.

Here are some links if you want to buy some online:

For the expensive Norma (this is about as cheap as you can find Norma):

I assume you already have a clip?

Now I want one! Do they take the same clip as the 6.5 model?

Yes, but you have to bend it outwards a bit to accept 8X57, and it only holds 5 rounds instead of 6, with the 6.5.

Here's a thread discussing these very guns on Tucos. Demary is Dave Emary of Hornady bullets. The guy named Alexander Eichner is German, and the main author of the Carcano Homepage:

Neil, leave Cole Distributing a message about 6.5 ammo here:

http://www.coledistributing.com/MM016.ASP?pageno=25

Their PRVI should be cheaper than $15 a box.
