SMITH & WESSON U.S. MILITARY PISTOLS
VICTORY MODEL
GOOD TO VERY GOOD CONDITION
CURIO & RELIC ELIGABLE!
ORDER #SW-VIC38 $149.95
After the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in December of 1941, the United States placed large contracts for a revolver to be used by the US military forces. Between 1942 and 1945, Smith & Wesson produced the Victory Model to help speed up the wartime efforts. These military revolvers are in good, original condition. This historic collector model is chambered for 38 S&W cartridge with a 5 inch barrel and lanyard ring.
Looks like a gem but with all the bad experience with SOG lately I think I might pass.Ive always wanted a victory model.Has anyone bought one of these from them?

Sorry no help here. I'd sooner walk barefooted on crushed glass and French-kiss Hillary :elbarfo: than order a weapon from SOG!

This is a S&W made for British, hence the 5" barrel. US versions have 4" versions. I was thinking about one, but elected not to due to crappy condition SOG items usually are.

I've been interested in them, but I don't want to buy one from SOG. Like Avtomat said, they were made for the British, which should explain my interest in them. ;)

This doesn't answer your question but I have the same model type (SW Military and Police Model) dated circa 1941 (by the serial number) pre victory production, has a 3.5" barrel and it's a real sturdy high quality revolver. I think I'll keep this one on my nightstand.
I haven't shot it yet. This was one of my deceased father in law's weapons that I snagged before someone could have them given to the cops 'for destruction'. That's what happened to his Luger. I could kill my sister in law for that. He went to the hospital a couple years ago and she wouldn't let me hold the pistola. He must have had the SW hidden.
I also got a box of .38 SW ammo with it, the ammo box is dated 1958.

Can you cut down .38Special to use for .38 S&W? If so I'd be good to go for one of those.

Most of the Victory models made for the US had "US Property" stamped on them. The ones SOG has do not. They say they were just missed and not stamped. I'm not so sure. They have had the properly marked ones in the past.

38 S&W is not just a short 38 S&W Special. You can't just cut down special brass. The 38 S&W is larger at the base.
S&W .386 base diameter
S&W special .379 base diameter.
Using cut down special brass will just lead to split cases. It is akin to shooting 22 lr in a 22 mag chamber.
Best of luck,
Slim
