Real fine work there W2K. The patience really paid off on that one. Great job. I'm very impressed.

that is beautiful!
tell me did you have any trouble getting off the front barrel band? I'm having a heck of a time with mine but if I can get it to look like that it will be worth it!

Normally I am not attracted to guns that "beautiful" but your M48A is the exception.
Take an overall pic of the rifle and then send the picture to Evil Adim, and ask him to make that our "Logo"...

yes I had trouble getting it off. I found 2 ways of getting it off:

1. get a small C clamp and on the opposite side use a small piece of cardboard(not to mark up the wood)and clamp down on the band spring. use a rubber hammer and just knock the front band off.

2.use a plastic scrapper about 3/4" wide and wedge it in between the front band and band spring. use a rubber hammer to knock the front band off.
those are my secrets on the mauser.

Take a pic on a white background. Post it here, then send it to the Evil Admin!

Well, your stock in original condition looked fine to me. I would have just cleaned it and then just oiled it to seal it up and left it. Just my opinion and it's your rifle. Opinions vary like noses, everybody's got one and they're all different.

that's cool
I like it original my self. I just wanted to try something different. I will probably sand it down and put it in the original conduction in the future.

Need I say more? :D

I like the red wood too, but that shine is something to behold.

It's just too pretty! The tight grain structure almost makes it look like a laminated stock.
