Thanks for replying my message in the general discussion board regarding the chinese AK.
Now I went back to the shop and found out more info about it. The rifle is made by Norinco (under receiver) , marked with MAK-91 National Match comes with 20-22 inch barrel. It's definitely a post ban (probably with American part set)
How much should I pay for it to avoid getting robbed?
Thanks,
I got mine last fall used in the box with all accessories for $385. But with the price increses latly I say anything under $500 and you are doing real good.

Under $500 for a NHM91 with a US Parts Kit installed??? If it really has a US Parts kit on it then it's probably worth more than that because the kits alone go for around $170.

But the new Bulgarian AK with pistol grip is going for about $650 (retail)now. It has better receiver (milled, too) and nice barrel (steyr). The price might drop down below $600 within a year once the production really cranks up. So I think around $500 (or below) for MAK-91 is a reasonal price to pay.
Be honest, now I feel post ban AK price might start dropping a little bit in the next 6 months. First Maddi, then Romanian, now Bulgarian all start produce the pistol grip version from $350-$600 price range. Tennesee Guns start to market another milled receiver AK. But hell, another good time (to buy) has just begun and I love it !!

By the way, the assault rifle price were artificially inflated in the first place anyway because of import ban. Even for Bulgarian AK made in the US, I figure the cost to make one (incuding tooling cost) should be around $300. These imports probably cost no more than $100 to make them since all the tooling cost were paid by the military budget in the first place. The low price for these new pistol grip rifles just reflect the reality.
Now I am confused.....should I pay $500 for a used MAK-91 or $600-$650 for a brand new Bulgarian AK with all the accessories? Choices, choices........(I am not complaining for the good time though)
