Thinking about acquiring my first 7.62x25 pistol. SOG has the TT-33 C&R for $209, TT-33 Non-C&R for $150 and the CZ52 for $120. I can probably get the Non-C&R TT-33 through my transfer dealer for $175. Any preferences here?

I don't have any of them but would lean toward the C+R TT33,but I would buy it from SOG....They have them cheaper and with matching mags.

I have a CZ 52, it is a really fun weapon to shoot. there is hardly no recoil from it.
I got mine from century. it has a new barrel and looks brand new.
on the others I have no comment because I don't own either of them.
I would go with 1POM idea with SOG. if it does not look right just send it back and they will ship you a new one.

Thanks guys. If I do it I will probably go with the CZ52. That was the direction I was leaning in the first place. FWIW those prices are from SOG's latest flyer.

1. This was a great find, I bought it as a lark, Ive been very impressed with it, no recoil and very accurate.
2. GET ONE OF THESE.:)

if you order one, talk to Shawn first. he had some problems with the one he got from sog.

DO NOT get one from SOG. I got one, and my roommate both got one from SOG. We both got "HandPicked" guns and they sent us some shot out paperweights.
THe outside apperances were "OK" looking, but the barrels were the most pitted awful things I've seen. You could not even see the damn rifling. Awful.
Another thing you need to remember with these pistols is that they have weak firing pins. If you dry fire it even by accident, these pins are brittle and may crack. I know you can replace them, but to pay $20-$30 to fix a $120 gun seems silly. I almost replaced the barrel and firing pin, but i just wanted to cut my losses.
Why didn't I return it?
In missouri you have to have the pistol sent to a FFL dealer for a $20 transfer fee, you need a $15 background check from the sherriff's office, and you have to pay for shipping again from SOG. They were rude and unhelpful when I called them and they told me that they would not check the barrel for me on a replacement gun. So I would pretty much pay $40-$50 for another crappy pistol that should have only cost $120 in the first damn place.
I say get a Makarov.

Thanks for the info guys. So Shawn, in Missouri you can't get a C&R pistol shipped directly to you with your 03 FFL? That sucks.

Correct. I'm not sure still though if I can get em shipped here direct. Frankly I am a rifle guy, but hope that I can still get pistols direct.

Pistols direct? Yep, all day long once you are FFL-03.
A suggestion srv656s,
I had the same problem with dealers charging $20-25 for a transfer...I ran into a gunsmith (they are FFL-01 holders) and he told me he has to buy so many guns a year to keep his FFL-01. He told me a lot of his fellow gunsmiths have a hard time generating enough gun sales to keep the feds happy. Thus, he said he would do transfers all day long for $10.00/pop.
He DID ask me not to have HIM do a ton of searching and leg work...he told me to pick out a gun, he'd do the yellowsheet. I contacted Century, got the dealer pricing (I'm a C&R) too), picked up a copy of his FFL-01 and mailed it with my Money Order...he got the gun in a week. I got my $10.00 permit at the courthouse, paid him the $10.00 he'd asked for, and was out the door with a new Daewoo DP-51 9mm for $269.00.
(Century Intl. @ $249).
You may wish to snoop around and see if you have a gunsmith in the Springfield area who might do this with you. Since I paid for the gun by M.O. I also "missed out on" paying the sales tax!
It's some work setting it up, but it may be a way to save you some $$!!
