do the #'s all match ?
does it have the:
dust cover ?
aircraft sights ?
full, untouched MUM ?
mono-pod ?
cleaning rod ?
pitting ?

a bad stock will cut the value in half.

How do you tell if bolt matches is it the last three numbers on serial# and the three on the bolt?I don't know what type of sights it has only that they flip up and slide up and down are marked
from 3 thur 15 have little buttons on the side.No cleaning rod or dust cover or monopod.Slight pitting on top of reciever bluing about 70-80% except on bolt where it is 40-50%.If I am leaving anything out I am sorry this gun was given to me I know nothing about it other than what I have posted.I have several other guns of the same vintage but know nothing about Arisakas other than what I have found on the net.Again thanks for the help.Damn 7.7 ammo is expensive!!!What is MUM?

hey! I know the answer to one of those questions!

The "mum" refers to a stamping of the Emperial Japanese crest, which is a stylized Chrysanthemum.

the last 3 #'s will be on a few parts. the bolt handle, the safety knob (remove bolt, push in and turn the safety and it will come off and the firing pin and spring will come out), the bayo lug.

many of them didn't have mono-pod, aircraft sights and dust cover. others had them removed in the states.

the mum is a flower looking stamp right on top of the reciever.
most were defaced/removed. a very few never had them.

pitting is common.

if you didn't read through that link above you should.

i will post a pic of mine.

I too have a type 99 that I know nothing about. The link provided showed me that I have a Nagota series 7 The mum on the top of the receiver is untouched, and it has matching #'s and good blueing but a bubba'd stock. No monopod, cleaning rod or aircraft sights though. I have a buddy that wants to trade me a nice 98% Mauser for it. I have no idea what an Arisaka is worth.
Thanks, Bill

Don't know what shape it's in but J&G has one for $49!

When the BBT came today the driver came in to see my new Mausers. He offered me $100 for the t99 to use as a deer rifle. Its not a bad looking rifle but he wants to put a scope on it and I told him that I didn't even think mounts are available. I also told him how expensive the ammo is and I do have a bubba'd M44 that would work better for deer. Although I mostly have Mausers and Mosins I might hold on to this rather than see it get chopped up any more. Considering that this has a nice mum and matching#'s it seems a shame to scope it and bend the bolt.
