From what I can piece together at www.jouster.com there are around 45,000 of these rifles. The possible down side is that the 14,000 individuals that entered into the 1903 Lottery some time back will get their orders filled first. My understanding is that non lottery orders will not be opened until May.

Also seems that the CMP is not telling where these came from as there may be more coming later on, USMC? They say they will not run out for a year. I'm ordering a 1903A3 Remington tomorrow. Might see it by June if I'm lucky. :D

Cool Richard , Now to figure out what I want to order !
I have an 03A4 so I may want an early version rather than an A3 .

But I would be willing to bet some Nice correct A 3s are there ,especially if they were USMC, as I saw quite a few in racks at the Mainside Armory at Camp Pendleton when I was there way back.

But I never saw them used as we had M14s and Garands in ITR they were only stored in racks for when ever..............We can hope ;)

Richard, I recieved my papers from the CMP for the purchase of 03s Today. It came regular 1st class mail ,nothing special .......

I think I registered 2 or more years ago and again last Sept,, but today when I got home the papers You were saying would be sent out were here !

Before even filling them out I ran to Mail Boxes Etc., and had them noterized so I could send off my order tonight,Which I just did Via Express mail @ the airport here in Portland.

The CMP is letting previous signed up people go first, and general members go next in a couple of weeks. BUT GET YOUR PAPERS SENT IN MEANWHILE ! Pay on plastic ,it speeds it up alot.........

they have 15 options of years, makers, and stock combinations of which You can order one of each ,from the way Me and other collectors read it. I also ordered 2 more receivers on the same form ,as you can do that now which is an improvement on the past order forms.

It is important to get the order ready ASAP and send it in even if they hold it for a while,as some of the options may sell out quickly! If You snooze You loose thats why mine went express with signature waiver to their P.O. Box!

Get the paper work and send it in because you will be glad that you did. Every one of My rifles from them has trippled in price in the past few years and surpassed any of my other investments,Bar none !! :bigdeal:

My Wife looked at me like  But I felt like :D

I figure I will pay it off little by little...............................

Got my paperwork in the mail yesterday! I know they won't process my application until at least May 1st, but hopefully I can get the rifle I want (Remington M1903A3 with C-stock). I like the pistol grip stock better than the straight, and I like the apeture sights.

I also used credit card since you all said it would be faster. I put a note on there requesting which rifle models should be substituted in case they run out of the model I asked for. Good idea or no?

In any case, I'm hoping to see my rifle by the end of June. I CAN'T WAIT! It will be a nice compliment to my M1 and my carbine.

Good Idea to use plastic ,as it speeds up the process a bunch .Also if your origional selection isn't available it is easy to change the amount rather than to return your check for another one..(had that happen to me but it only took once ) !
I know this for a fact as I have gotten over a dozen garands and just won a "C" model that I will be paying off for some time ! That auction cost me $5,150.00 but there isnt any and they are worth $6,500 to $7,500 according to Scott Duff .
.
Also Your Idea for a second choice is a good one which I forgot to mention . Just highlight it (the extra choice ) and write in red ink pen next to it 2ND Choice ,3RD Choice etc.etc.
Remember that they read these things and peel and sticks work too. Take care and give feed back to me how it goes,i'll hope for a great one for you......Semper Fi, Unc

CC was hit on 5/7. I may be geting one of the first non-lottery rifles. Hoping for next week now. Much better than early July which was what I figured. Ordered another Garand and an M44 bout three weeks ago. If they only charged one shipping fee for the two rifles then the totals are the same. Since I hear they don't ship two rifles together then $494.95 has to be my "C" Stock Remington. Anyone else get a rifle yet or a CC hit?

Ok Here we go.........I had a hit 3 weeks ago for $2,800 on my C.C. and knew things were about to happen, BUTWHEN !

Then two weeks later to the day,the first THREE 03s arived !

And the next day TWO more arrived !

And I thought :jump: :jump: :jump: !

BUT THEN I OPENED THEM UP !!!

Of the two high numbered RAI 03s one was a scant stock and one was a "C" stock.

The other three were 03A3s,one scant stock Smith Corona,One "C" stock Smith Corona and a "C" stock Remington .

They were all oil soaked and smothered in a light grease, which is ok because I have a solvent cleaning station in my shop !

High Ser No.RIA 1 had a cracked scant stock(BIG CRACK) 44 A3 RA Barrel ,receiver light shiny color ,03A3 trigger and stamped trigger guard..........in my opinion I can get a much nicer rifle here for a lot less money !:(

The Hi ser no RIA with "C" stock had a 1918 RIA barrel to my surprise ! they said they were only selling them on auctions!
Stock fair, receiver dark color ,milled trigger guard ,and some A3 parts, because of barrel worth the money !;)

The SC 03A3 scant stock was shiney receiver ,mixed parts and RA 44 barrel........Another below average rifle !:(

The SC 03A3 "C" stock RA cartouched stock,1/43 SC barrel;) mixed bag of A3 parts, dark parkerizing on entire rifle. An ok rifle but not a screaming deal !

Last was a RA A3 rifle, C stock was ok and marked RA with a 5/43 RA barrel ,Dark parkerizing and mixed bag parts.Another ok rifle that will become a nice one with some switching around of parts.

All and All one rifle out of five was a collector due to the barrel, and the others were just average,Or Below average grade !

The rifles compared to Century imports in the GOOD grade, and not in the excellant grade, and they looked like the Russians used them for the last century !

Here in Portland you can get a better rifle for the same money at the gun shows. The Down fall is they all go through a local county/state background check $10.00 each and these rifles omit that step.

These rifles have the little certificate and how to book with them which adds something to their collectibality ,and if we aquire all of the parts and put the stocks in your neighbors dishwasher when you are house sitting for them ,they might clean up ok.

Of course the water being discharged fron the dish washer will look like the EXXON VALDEZ when it hits the waste water treatment plant in your town,or kill the fish for 200 miles if dumped into the local water way ! But you will just have to shut your eyes in the name of collecting :p

Do any of you guys need a house sitter right away ?? I would be happy to help you out ! LOL !

Hope I didn't burst your bubble, and Yours may be PUSS !

Take care my brothers ,Uncle Milt

You're saying I could be receiving my M44 and Dane instead of my 03A3? Not that I would complain either way.:)

Well Richard ,I think you would get a better rifle that way!

These rifles are all marked with numbers vertically,
(and not always matching) on the right butt of the stock like they love to do in Europe.

So perhaps they must have had them stashed over there some where !

That might have been our answer to the Eastern Blocks stashes of M44s!

I was told that some were in Greece but who knows, maybe Schutz knows as he is usually pretty up on the subjects of where things came from !

Now about that dishwasher of yours ??

Happy trails, Unc.

Hey There Schutz !
YOU DA MAN ! I thought that that is where they were from and
I knew that you would have a clue to their origination...........
A buddie of mine in Springfield Mo. said that he has a friend that was a worker at Anniston when the crates came in ,and that they said Greece also just like you said. Thanks much for your input!
Take care UNC. ;)
