building a dpms lower

getting ready to build my dpms lower but i need a question answered. on the front takedown pin detent, which way does the pin go? does the pointy end go into the receiver against the spring or does it point out into the detent pin itself? i would assume that the point would go out to trip the detent in the pin.

i built a bushmaster lower last year and screwed up theat part of it and ended up with stuffing a pipe cleaner in the pin to add tightness. don't want to mess up this time. any help would be appreciated. i went to ar-15.com and got instructions for assembly but it is lacking on which wway the pin goes.:confused:

I have always assembled mine with the pointy end out facing the pin.
