1. Friend gave me this to clean and then called and said I could have it because he couldnt find ammo for it. It was a mess but I put the old restoration magic to work.

2. Ive already ordered a second as I didnt know he was giving me this one. Damn where do I put all these guns?

He must not have tried online shopping or ammo dealers at gunshows looking for ammo. Norma and PRVI shows up on gun auction boards pretty regular, too. Well his loss is your gain, nice Moschetto 28 TS! Who made it and when?

If you get ammo, I recommend Norma 156 grain for best accuracy. The PRVI 139 grain is a spitzer, and since it is .264 in a .268 bore, there is less bullet surface to catch the rifling lands, and therefore accuracy suffers. The Norma 156 grain is the long round nose, like the Italian milsurp. It stabilizes much better due to the long straight edge.

Dave Emary of Hornady is working on getting not only .268 bullets made, but Hornady may start making their own .268 6.5 Carcano ammo.

1. Thanks for the help, I am looking forward to seeing what Century has to offer.

2. I ordered the NORMA 156gr last night from The Sportsman Guide Internet Catalog for 26.99 per box and some extra clips 5 for 19.00. Not cheap but it is a start.

3. I hope Hornady does decide to start producing 6.5:D

Dave Emary just said that our Emails to Steve Hornady did the trick and they will be making ammo finally in the right diameter for Carcanos. I guess Emailing does help.

26.99 is about as cheap as you will find Norma. $4 a clip is about what I pay, too. What's their web address?

No kidding, as I have been spoiled with cheap Russian ammo prices, too.

I will pay more for American or Western European ammo, though, as I know there must be demand for supply to continue. Plus I don't shoot as much in bolt guns as I do with semis.

Thanks for the address.

Did you ever check with Springfield Sporters or Sarco for the bayo lug on the Short Rifle?
