Anyone know anything about the FN Browning P-35 HI Power (9mm)? These were manufactured by FN of Belgium for the military and police in Argentina.

Any comments on quality, availability of parts, etc?? What about price..I've seen them advertised for $370, VG arsenal refinished with new barrel.

Thanks!

I assume you mean the JLDenter ones? They have not arrived yet, but as for quality well FN actually makes the Browning guns. However it seems that the resale for them is lower than an actual "Browning" As for accuracy and such they should be fine weapons, I hope this helps

By far one of the best 9mm's you can ever own.I have 2.A FN and a FEG pjk-9hp.I got the FN a few years back for 259.00 and its the best 9mm I own.The FEG cost me 220.00.Just look at how long it was kept in service with the brits and that says a lot.Very reliable and very accurate. It was used by the germans as well when the FN factory was overrun. Many tankers in the german panzer divisions carried them.

The ones on the market are made by FM not FN.
They were made under license by DGFM in Argentina.
they area bit rougher than the FN/Brownings but identical and all parts interchange. Here is a picture of mine.

i love the p-35 hi-power.Browning sure knew his shit when he built guns.the only problem ive had with hi-powers is that they will jam if you shoot them limp wristed.(my feg hi-power did).accuracy and reliability of the gun is top notch in my opinion.i wonder if the hi-power is still in service somewhere in the world.

The ones coming in from JLD are supposed to be MADE by FN, then sold to Argentina. The pic clearly shows the Fabrique National stamping rather than the FM one. Seems kinda like the Hartford Colt and the Sistema, once they got a taste for the gun, they licensed a copy for themselves. I'm planning on getting one. LAter.

It does look like they have internal ejectors. Anyone know the significance of that??

hey neil, you should get one.they feed all types of 9mm and the grip is very slim for a hi cap.magazine wise, they are the cheapest of all the hi caps.i really cant find anything negative to say about these pistols.they point well(for me anyways)and arent too heavy to carry.some hi-powers also have a sweet trigger pull.price of these guns vary, but all in all its a damn fine pistol.

As far as my Hi-Powers I always yank the magazine safeties out of mine.It improves trigger pull by 100% and it allows the magazines to drop free.I cant stand those magazine safeties.Any true Hi-Power freak gets rid of these.I love Hi-Powers.:D

So where to get one of these FN P-35?

Let's clear this up. Is it not marked BROWNING or anything, but just says FN and P-35?

ok
most guns are marked either FN Herstal Belgique or Browning, some newer models may have both. None say p-35. goto www.jldenter.com to look at the FN's for sale in April

If you look at the photos posted on JLD's website, you will see that they are marked:

FABRIQUE NATIONALE D"ARMES DE GUERRE

BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE

I ordered two today.

Although I'm new to the group, I have had a P-35 since '71 & shot it extensively in IPSC matches for 4 yrs. It's had approx. 70,000 rds shot thru it (no BS) & I'd still take it to battle. Rattles a little, but will still shoot where I point it. John Browning was a genius.

My 1980 Silver-Chrome. Bone stock.

(The pic doesn't come close to doing it justice.)

:D

Edit: Oh yeah, if you get one HP you are risking getting many more. Shoot one and see. :)

Thanks for the info, I may just have to get me one of those. Does anyone know how old these are? If they're C&R, they are pretty old, right around 40-50s production???

What's a better deal? Reconditioned $320, or with new Barrel for $370?? What did you order? I wonder how long these barrels last, and how good the bores are. I tried to find how much a new BHP barrel would cost, but had no clue. Does anyone know?

Oh, thanks for pushing me over the C&R deep end. I bought a P38, now a Yugo SKS, and pretty soon gonna be this.

Regards,

I had an IMI Baby Eagle 9mm which is a copy of the Browning HI-Power, and I sold it 'cause I needed money for my C&Rs, but I regret selling it and will soon get another one. They're nice guns, very accurate, and the grip is very comfortable for me, but the trigger pull is kind of hard. How can I take out the mag Safety? and will it affect the gun in any negative way?

Thanks.
Breastman.

Mine still has the original barrel after approx. 70,000 rds, granted most were cast lead & not jacketed, but you have to work hard to wear out a Hi-power barrel. Having Barsto install a new barrel in it is an instant accuracy job. They do a good job.:bigdeal:
