What strippers do you need for an 03/03A3? Will 8mm strippers work?

Richard ,They haven't worked for me,but maybe it was the particular 8MM clips that I had.

M14 / 308 Stripper Clips are easily available and work in my 03s, M1A , and 1941 Johnson Automatics.

I got 480 rounds of Greek 30-06 from Dillon Inc. and it all came in Beautiful stripper clips. If you can find Greek ammo it is sweet and it has rounds in the 5 round strippers to boot !

I just gave 120 rounds of the ammo just out of the crate to my friend along with one of my 1941 Johnsons to shoot in a Garand match for the hell of it in the next week or so.

If you don't have any luck finding any,I can send you some of the 24 that took, when he returns them to me when he is finished.
No problem. ;)

Thanks, I appreciate the offer. I'm going to wait until at least May before I order a 1903 from the CMP. Seems like the scuttlebutt is that these may be kind of raggedy. I'd like to see what some of the folks in the lottery are getting next month before I order.

Richard ,Check out what I said to You on the 03 CMP sale posting .
I DEFINATELY would put the order in now, because it won't get worked until MaY unless you are pre registered .

I even Express Mailed my order to be sure to have a chance to get my choice of rifles that I want. I don't expect them to work mine for 60 to 90 days, and if you wait untill May you may not get one .

I have been buying rifles from them for 30 years and I have waited a week more than my pals in the past and missed out ! Not any more....

also I have a friend in Memphis whose brother was working at Bldg 10 as a volinteer in Anniston .He said all of the past 03 rifles sold were returns from the VFW etc. and mostly in poor condition.

These rifles he thinks were found in Barstow Ca. and most all looked to be in very good condition. And most were still covered in preservitive since being rebuilt. many didn't have origional barrels ,and lots of early rifles have later stocks, but all and all were "much Better" than any that they have ever sold in the past lotterys.......according to people who work there.

I would go for it if I were you. I ordered 5 different variations and I am keeping my fingers crossed ! Take care !;)

I just saw a post over at www.jouster.com in the 03 forum from a CMP guy who saw two of these at the Baltimore gunshow. Says they were fantastic, or words to that effect. Damn, why can't things be easy. I'm wanting a "C" stock Remington 03A3. Guess I'll copy the old DD-214 today and mail tomorrow. I've never had an 03 before and hate to spend $500 total for a sewer pipe. I'm wanting something that looks good and I can shoot more than something to fill out that special niche in an existing collection.

It Seems to me that when ever the chance to get a great deal on a rifle comes along, I am short on cash. Such is life !

I say "oh I'll sell one of my Garands or whatever to get the new rifle..............

The trouble is Now all of the Garands I have now are totally correct and I don't want to part with them! It is like selling one of my kids !

About the only extra item I have any more is a very nice 1941 Johnson Automatic that I have ( I have 3) ,but I would have to wait for someone to give me the $2,000 + that I want for it,so Charge Card it is.

That is why God made plastic after all,to make charge cards !
I always charge the item At the CMP and pay it off, month by month by month !

Also by Using the plastic is faster with them ( the CMP) by far, and at least you get the item that you wanted. I have had Money Orders returned saying "please send another one as this one is expired due to the waiting period". " EEK !" You only need to have that happen once and the rest is history !

I did however get and still do have buyers guilt when I purchased a complete M1 "C" on an a auction from them in Nov. last year for $5,150 .
But I have to remember it will just go up in value in the future.

Mr Canfield says that a correct one like mine is worth $6,500 or More so I already have more back on my investment than what I spent.

Take the leap and you will look back at the time that you scored that great rifle ! You might want another to leave in the box for the future ! It's Our last chance "ever" to get such a choice,we snooze we loose :p

Filled out everything and got all photo-copies together. Notary tomorrow and it's on it's way. Maybe I'll get lucky as a repeat purchaser and using the CC and get it near the first part of July. Then it can be an anniversary present from the wife.:D

Richard,Good Idea ,You will be glad that you sent it off early rather than later. It will be fun to see how long it takes for us to get the rifles, and their condition. That will be a fun topic to see what our brother collectors get !!

Another funny little item refering to birthday gifts to a wife: My friend gave his wife a 357 Magnum for her birthday,Her response was to reciprocate in like fasion by giving him a set of Floral Dinner plates for his birthday !
