Just got the notice today. Anyone gotta have an M-1 really bad.
At the last gunshow I worked a fellow had two tables of them and for the whole weekend I never saw anyone touch one.

They aren't C&R--in case that was your purchase plan. The receiver is new--non C&R. Other than that I haven't heard anything bad about them.

Saw one at a show earlier this year. Not bad looking except for the stock which had black paint on parts of it. Some people have no problems though others have. Main issue seems to be the receiver which is not made to spec and causes operating problems. This may have been a few of the earliest ones made as I haven't heard much about them good or bad in a while. Have not heard much in relation to the quality of the parts kits used. Mainly just the receivers.

I have a '42 but tell me more!
My dad has a Century M1 Garand.
He's fired countless rounds through it. He takes it to the range every time we go(during spring and summer every weekend) and when he goes by himself(when I have to work on saturdays). He uses mostly surplus ammo through it but uses commercial and reloads in it. He added a scope mount(B-Square replaces rear sight and clamps to reciever) and scope(tasco 3-9X40). He also added a G.I. cheek rest and sling. To be honest that thing is just as accurate(if not more) than my Springfield M1. I tried to get him to add a flash hider to it(I have a spare T-37) and he didn't want it.
This is one account of Century's M1. I've read bad reports and I know this one from fact(I shoot it also). And I can't knock it as it's a pretty good rifle.
One more thing. He even uses it for hunting.

Thanks ED4,has he ever had the headspace checked???
That seems to be much of the issue I keep reading about.....
I'm hot for a Garand, but just can't bring myself to pay exorbinant $$$ for one.The Century would fit my bill as long as it's safe and the wood is EX.

1 Pat yes he's checked the headspace. Won't close on no go gauge. The wood on his was very good and well used. But he didn't like it(wanted a new stock and didn't want to refinish that one) so he put a new boyds stock on it(ordered from Midway). So I got the stock minus hardware as a spare.
Maybe he got lucky with it. But then maybe I got lucky with my CETME.
I'm sure Redstar would say I'm lucky. :D

what range do you go to?there is no go range around here:(
Up by you? There are acouple ranges by where my brother lives(don't know for sure how close to you that is). But I don't know their names but I do know one is for law enforcement training(he can get me in somtimes depending on the range master). They also have one at a WMA.
Down here wher I am. There is the WMA and private land.
