Man, did I pick up a beauty of a Carcano today! It is a 1941 Beretta Cavalry Carbine with an accuracy mark on the barrel shank. Pushed the usual slug of cosmoline out of the bore, wiped it out good and proceeded with solvent and about 20 patches. When finished, I stared down and saw the most perfect bore I have ever seen on not only any Carcano I have owned, but on any military rifle I have ever owned! Mirror shiny and the rifling lands look like they were just cut. The bore looks like a brand new commercial rifle! Also, the metal finish looks like a commercial gun, there are no nicks, cracks, or initial carvings in the stock anywhere, and the wood is really nice with alot of streak highlights in it. The bluing is worn pretty well, and the stock does not match, but it is a Ux stock, just the same.
It came in the same lot from SOG from which my M38 Fucile Corto I ordered two weeks ago had. I saw it with the other 5-6 Carcanos my FFL dealer ordered, but it was so caked in cosmo, I didn't notice the accuracy mark below the year stamp. Since it was really the nicest of the lot, I went back today and bought it for the $140 which he was asking.

So far, this one is the pinnacle of my Carcani collection. If any of you guys can talk your local dealers into buying a lot of 5 or 6 Carcani through SOG (yeah, you pay more), then you can hand select the best of the lot.

There's some real gems in this latest Century batch, you just have to look hard.

1. Went to the range today and out of all I took the 28 and 38 Carcanos were to best to play with, I dont like much how they load but its fairly simple operation, but the accuracy and feel of this weapon is supurb. I had a blast with them both.

2. I hope my Century 28 Turns out as nice as what you got there. I will report and show pics Tues when it arrives. It shipped Thursday.:D

I did the same. Went through one box of PRVI, and 1/2 box of Norma. I was almost out of ammo when I shot the Cavalry Carbine, but got it pretty much centered on the target. All three of mine were shooting to the left, so I used my Chinese AK tool to push the sights left. Now they are all about 15" high, but all pretty much in the center.

I usually just load three rounds in the clip at a time. But all three rifles fed flawlessly. I recovered 3 Norma 156 grain bullets (they hit rocks, I guess). Pretty awesome expansion on those long pencil like bullets!

I bought some Italian milsurp at the show this afternoon. $7 for 40 - not bad at all. It's probably 80% misfires, though. The primers are not sealed.

BTW, all the PRVI I shot had flattened primers. That ammo is loaded "muy caliente"!
