Hello everybody. During the past few weeks, I have been dabbling with a homepage of my own. I thought that a few pictures of my favorite toys would be a nice addition to my homepage. So last night, with the help of the wife, I took pics of every toy that I had. Since I needed to pick up a perscription today, I figured that I could kill two birds with one stone, and pick up my meds, and have the roll of film with my toy pics develped at Walgreens Pharmacy. Big Mistake! Shortly after my roll of film got develped, I was greeted by two of Weatherford PD's Finest, who asked me to step outside. In hand, they had my gun pictures, which BTW, came out really well. Then I had to respond to the usual questions. Why did I have all these weapons? Am I a terrorist? Why did I need to take photos of my gun collection? Ect... Well, a few things helped me out here. First, my via radio good citizen check went well (no surprises there). Second, it happened that both the police officers involved were hobbiests like myself. Third, they found out I was one of them when I was in New York. So, the rest of the "interview" consisted mainly of talking guns, and advise on how to get into law enforcement/corrections here, if I wanted. With that out of the way, I returned into Walgreens, and paid for my purchase. For some reason, the clerk avoided all sorts of eye contact with us, especially the wife, who BTW, was NOT making any efforts to avoid eye contact. The police officers did give me one great line of advise though. Because of the atmosphere caused by 9-11, I should buy a digital camera if I want to take gun pics. That is probably the best thing I heard a Texas cop say to me since I moved down here! :(

God!!!

Man! I hate to hear stories like that. I did the same thing back in 94 so I could show my other gun loving co-workers picks of what I had. The film clerk gave me a bunch of attitude and asked if I was going to start WW3. You were lucky running into cops that understood, this is why I have decided not to put pics of what I own on the board either. I would rather not let everyone know what I have.

What is this "film" thing you speak of .... is it a god?

Seriously ... a digital camera will save you money in the long run anyway. I have a 128Meg flash card that I fill up about once a month (about 250 pics on the best quality) You can print enlargements yourself if you wanted to, and ya got a big goose egg for film development costs :bigdeal:

Here is an update:

The Walgreens corporate office did not repond to my message to them. I sent them another outline of the incident, but this time, I made it a tad bit stronger. Besides stressing the embarasment and anguish produced by the incident, I now added a few questions. 1) Is it company policy to treat customers in this manner? 2) Is it possible to get a written apology from the Regional Manager, as well as the photo department manager? Now for a few new points I added with the following questions: 3) Is it company policy to treat gunowners in this manner? 4) Is it company policy to treat americans of asian decent in this manner? 5) There are interested parties regarding both my race and choice of hobbys. Can you name them all? 6)If it was not company policy to generate this incident, and it turns out to be the clerk's personal bias that caused this situation, then could I still have a written apology from the Regional Manager, as well as having that photo clerk's position terminated to avoid any future situations like the one I outlined?
I then noted that this was a second message that was being sent to them on the matter, and this time I demanded an immediate response. I also will be sending a letter to the regional NRA rep, to inform him of the incident. The only thing that I have not done yet is to check out lawyers. I know that question 4 was alittle dirty, but hey, this is WAR.

Wolv314,

Let us know what happens, maybe you get an e-mail address or fax number for them during your dealing and we could gang up on them a little?

Guess what I got in the mail today?!? I hope you all guessed right. It was a letter of apology from Walgreens. It was signed by the manager, and the staff involved. They even gave me a gift card to use in their store. That is assuming that I would ever go there again. I will not BTW. This was the good news. The only bad news was that there was no reply from corporate. I am willing to bet that they passed on the buck so to speak. Oh well, an apology is an apology, so I look at this mostly as a victory. Thank you all for the support and suggestions. I do not think I will take this further, because I fear that any documented action might make public my gun collection. So, I will play on the side of caution from this point forward.

Wolv314-
Is this a document that you could digitize and post? May be worthy of spreading around a bit. Sometimes I think these people need to be punched *real hard* so that they remember. The liberals have no problem doing the same.

I tried scanning it, but I cannot seem to get it to attach to anything. Any suggestions? BTW, I showed a copy off at work tonight. It was a hit.:D

Thanks for the good read... I just can't believe something like this could happen.

Are human beings actually being raised to be assholes their whole life?

Geeze, well we all know that's a fact. :)

Hello everyone, This story by Wolv314 pissed me off so much I had to register.

First off, I am a Walgreens employee, and it just so happens that I am the Photo Manager, and have been for nearly 1 year.

Company policy, and Kodak policy is very simple. Customer Privacy Policy! There is ONE reason and ONE reason ONLY to contact law enforcement, and that is Child Pornography. ( luckly I have not encountered this) Anything else (such as your case) violates the customer privacy policy!!!

Basically what this means is you can take legal action against Walgreens, and make this bastard loose his job!

I am very sorry to hear this, and if you are ever in Florida be sure to bring all your gun pictures to me :)

I'd cut the gift card up into small pieces and mail it back to corporate with a letter stating that you wanted a written apology from them also. As far as anything else, I do most of my shopping at Wal-Mart, A gun friendly store!:D

redice I would like any info form you on Digital cameras. I need to get one but I don't want to spend a fortune! :D

well mine is a cannon powershot s110 digital elph. beleave i paid 200 or 250 for it but now there hard to find :( pluss if all your going to do with it is take gun photos at close ranges you don't nead a 2 megapixel cam with all the features the s110 has i bought mine becuse i like takeing nature photos etc and neaded decent zoom and tons of pixels pluss mine can also make 30 second movies and alot of other stuff which was nice in the price range i was going for.

now the question is what are you going to use it for if your just going to use it for takeing photos of your guns maybe pictures of yourself and family etc and don't rilly nead much zoom if any. id say all you nead is a 1-2 megapixel cam but again it depends... and you should thouroughtly research cameras in your price range before you buy i beleave i got the best bange for my buck wen i got mine and am still happy with it now 6months later least i think ive had it 6months not shure heheh.

here is a good talk about how you should buy your camera

http://www.techtv.com/products/consumerelectronics/story/0,23008,3358523,00.html

oh my gosh i almost forgot the most important part what type of memory does it have and is it upgradeable you want something with the least of 32mb mine only came with a flash card of 8 and 16 i spent another 100ish bucks and got a 128mb flash card now i can store i beleave it was almost 200 pics in in i think the hightest format but im not certain its been a while since ive checked.

ok so you have figured out what type of cam your going to be looking for now so you start browsing the regular sites [best buy, amazon, ciruit city, mysimon etc "i say sites becuse you shouldent be going to the local best buy yet"
ok you find around 6 you are intrested you start cross referencing the abilities of all the cameras and narrow it down to 4 or so
now its time to find non sellor reveiws consumer product reveiws is probly a good place but i don't know the link for there site off hand another one that is good for electronics is

http://www.techtv.com/techtv/ (http://http://www.techtv.com/techtv/)
or
http://www.zdnet.com/

both good technology sites just use there search features or browse around.
ok so you have found the camera you like the most found some great prices on it and deals that give you some nice added bonuses. Now its time to call your local retailers and see if they handle it most likely if you have found the one with the most bang for your buck they won't in my experiance atleast but they might if they do go give it a test drive but probly don't buy it from them becuse you can get better deals online ifnot go for it.

last but not least brand names.... most places that have been makeing good photo cameras are makeing good digital cameras aswell you can usual knock a few cams off your favorite list by your brand names "have you ever herd of the brand" "will i get technical support for my camera in the long run and or a warrenty" etc etc will i always be able to buy those little parts that often get lost etc like power charger thing new batteries etc etc

oh another good thing to look for battery life.. and what type of batteries does it use curently mine uses liquid ion batteries which last a good amount of time and i got 2 with mine becuse of a rebate thing some say if it takes regular double a batteries its better becuse you can get them anywhere again this depends on how your going to use it are you going to be traveling alot with it were you never sleep in a hotel room that has a plug in etc. and or how long are you going to be sitting out takeing pictures.

Ok i think i have rambled on enuf with my poor grammer and spelling i hope you guys can glean some good information from what i have said and hope you get good buys on cameras.

As far are Wal Mart being gun friendly, they don't sell guns in my area. They only sell some ammo, and minimal accessories.

The Wal-marts in the western new york area carry a nice selection of rifles, shotguns, ammo and accessories. I'm not sure how they do it in other areas. I know that they sell fireworks in the pennsylvania stores and they don't in new york. Any local laws that might be preventing them from doing it? Or is the store management just lame?

I don't believe there are any local laws, but It is near Chicago. (30 miles)

well the only thing in my experiance is they may carry guns but there basicly crap and over priced in any kind of sell all kinds of crap for cheep prices wannabe wallmart and wallmart stores pluss you get werd looks wen you try to buy a gun at those places as if its evil or something lol id much rather by from the local gun shop.
