One of the March specials at Century is two Czech Model 1924's (good with cracked stock) for $100.00. I don't have one of these yet so I have a couple of questions (okay, I have 3).

(1) Are they a good and reliable rifle to add to a beginner's collection?

(2) I've never seen anything better than "good" with a cracked stock. Does that mean that they might be better than good condition?

(3) If they both turn out okay after fixing them, do you think a gun shop might give me 50 bucks for one?

Our local gun shop buys Turks in good condition at Century for $40.00, does nothing to them, and then resells them for $69.95.

[I'm poor, so I have to carefully manage my money]. :(

I have a V24/47, it is a great firearm! I bought mine at AIM SURPLUS last fall for around $89.

I don't know about re-selling to a dealer, but you can always advertise in our For Sale board.

A lot of guys really enjoy breathing "new life" into the bargain rifles.

Let us know what you decide to do...

Much like a kid in a candy store, I just spent my quarter. I bought another M48A. I got to thinkin' about the V24. I still want to get one, but I think I'll wait and see if someone offers a VG. I looked around and didn't see any and am a little leary about buying anything less. When I see a VG and I have the money (which should occur about the same time as the next planetary alignment), I'll jump on it. Thanks for the info Zouave. :D

[I don't suppose someone could put a spell checker on this thing?]

From what I have heard, the VG rated 98/22's are not too bad and come with a bayo

That would be nice to get a bayonet. So far I've been running about 50/50 on getting one with the gun.
