Glanced at one in a store this morning. Probably G at best. $250 or there abouts. What are these selling for? TIA

About that range. They made a lot less of them. Are you sure it was a 1911 rifle and not the 1889 model?

All I remember is it looked like the K31 except the mag is quite a bit further forward of the trigger guard. Had the same ring on the end of the receiver/bolt and the same bolt handle as the K31 or close to it anyway.

Richard so are you saying that it was a Carbine / short rifle length like the K31's?
The 1911's should have a red plastic cocking knob instead of all metal as the K31's have.
The other way to tell is if you pull the bolt back and see bolt lugs in the middle of the bolt and a long pusher projection ahead of the lugs. Go to the www.swissrifles.com page and look at the photos of the bolt construction between the 3 different models.

I was looking at my Rifles of the World last night and saw the K11, the Carbine/short rifle, forget the number and the K31. I'll have to go back and look. They have a K31 so I can compare the length easily. Don't recall the cocking handle being red.
My boss was a Swiss Officer and he said although the 1911's shot better they were heavier and the troops frefered the 31's
All the 1911's I have seen have pristine bores but rough wood.
They also seem to have the red cocking handles.
Hey Schuetzenman any luck on those Sawback bayos ?
My sources in CH have been looking but it is not high on their priority list.

Actually I'm not trying to get the Pioneer bayos as those are really rare and expensive over there so . . .! I'm working on the 1918 type bayonet that is smooth backed and a lot shorter. But no word lately. They are trying to gather 30 of them and last time I heard they had about half that number.

Took the day off and stopped by the same store. I'm pretty sure it's a Gewehr 11 Rifle. I compared it to a Swede 96 and it is about 3" longer. The handle has red plastic/bakelite knobs. The lower knob has about 1/4th of it missing. The mag, receiver and bolt are all matching. There is a large F stamped on the receiver. Bore is clean and pretty bright. No pitting. The muzzle end looks very nice. Wood is probably good. Not as many pits as my AIM Special K-31. There is a hairline crack in the upper. It looks like someone quite a while back filled a couple of gouges in the butt with the crayon stuff you melt with a soldering iron and then applied a shellac/varnish on the wood. Didn't san it much. The top of the comb neat the buttplate is stamped with a W&G. I think it is an ampersand between the letters. The blueing is about 60% with some patina. Action is smooth. Asking price is $239.00. I forgot to check the lugs. What ya think?

Well not being able to see it the rifle sounds just a tad high in cost. It sounds more like a $200 to $215 price range rifle.

I was gonna point out the cracked upper and the obvious stock work and offer $180 with $200 being the upper end if I had to go there. I think I'll let it ride for another week or so. If it's gone it's gone.
