I'd like to know how many of the major automakers are pro gun. Also, how about motorcycle manufacturers? Is Harley-Davidson pro-gun?
General Motors has traditionally been supportive of hunting and the ownership of firearms. A few years ago they were giving away a Winchester 30-30 with each new Chevy pickup truck of some special run. The anti's screamed but GM did not relent.

In '99 I bought my first GM product because of their pro-gun stance. If you used to watch "Tales of the Gun", they were sponsered by Cadillac. Then there wsa (is?) the Chevy truck sportsman's challenge.
I know it was a while ago, but Iacocca, as head of Chrysler, gave corporate money to the anti-gun cause. He even wrote a book on gun control. The Chrysler/Cummins diesel marriage came about at that time, I believe. All those sportsmen buying Dodge trucks with Cummins engines were donating double to the anti gunners, as Cummins is a major HCI contributor. I don't know the stand of the current Chrysler leadership, but I bet it hasn't changed much. You don't read about that in the gun rags, 'cause Dodge buys lots of ad space.

What about Ford?

I don't know about Ford, but Chevy has a Realtree special edition truck that ha s Realtree camo interior inserts and strips of Realtree on the bumpers. Kind of a weird thing, but it shows they have respect for hunters and sportsman.
I would assume Caterpillar (spell) and Dodge don't mind Ward Burton (Car No. 22 in NACSAR) being the NRA spokesman for NASCAR and their race to 5 million members. Usually sponsors take a dim view of drivers getting involved with causes they see as controversial or counter to their own beliefs.

GM update, a co-worker got fired because he had an unloaded rifle in the trunk of his car that was parked in the employee parking lot. No ammo was in the vehicle. GM policy is that you have to go home to get your weapons and then go to the range to shoot, they can not be in the locked trunk of your auto while on company property. I do not know how they found out he had it, but it causes me to go well out of my way to get my "toys" if I want to go shooting after work.

he probably blabbed about having a gun in his vehicle, and someone overheard it and reported it.
given that the japs are very anti-gun I wouldn't doubt that honda, toyota etc.. are anti-gun.

I don't know about thier stance on firearms, but most JAP. auto and motorcycle dealers are not allowed to fly an American flag in front of thier dealerships. My former place of business finally wound up with a state flag and a POW MIA.

Gawd! That is just wrong! This is America and the flag should be flown by whoever wants it. If it was a Chevy dealer in Japan I could care less if the Rising sun was flown in front of it. I guess they don't want the people that hate Jap cars to get upset about flying the Star n' Stripes over Jap cars though:rolleyes:

The info about flying an American Flag at import dealers in wrong.
Each dealer is independently owned, manufacturers have no say in what flag is in front. You could put a pirate flag out, and they couldn't do anything about it. (maybe not the best business move, though)

I hate to disagree, but I worked for a Honda motorcycle dealer for 16 years and I can assure you this is Honda's current policy. To the best of my knowledge I have never been able to find out why. Independently owned or not, if the Honda god sayes so, then it is so. Didn't like it the first time I heard it and don't like it now.

Not sure about German auto manufacturers. They certainly produce some of the worlds finest weapons, but their government has anti-gun policies in place for civilians. Most of Europe is heavily anti-gun. They prefer to have the blue helmets protect them.

Well I'll be dammed! It would seem those good folks at American Honda have seen the light. It is now OK for ANY Honda motorcycle or auto. dealer to fly OUR flag. Evidently 9-11 has corrected thier way of thinking. Also, AHMC has made available ATV's and power eqpt. to aid in the cleanup in NY. The contribution of approx. $4 million CASH to the victims fund will not hurt either. It is amazing what a good swift kick in the head can accomplish. Good for them.

I was told by some friends that Ford was moving more toward the Anti-gun trend. I can't say this for sure but it certainly wouldn't suprise me. Bill Fords politics are very LIBERAL and he is known for donating lots of money to radical left wing groups like PETA and Green Peace.
