Does anyone own a M-47 from Hesse arms? If so how do you like it. Also do you know if the M-47 or M-47 super will allow the use of the ultimax front sight base?

I'm curious about this also.
After all they didn't build these .
They only converted Saigas.
How bad could they screw that up.:(
But we are talking about Hesse so I'll not be the one doing the field report.
( EDIT: if I would take the time to proof read my posts I wouldn't have to edit half of 'em)

I don't own one, but I have a good friend that just bought one and I have looked it over quite carefully. I have also been to the range with him on several occasions while he fired it. My assesment is this. The overall workmanship is pretty good-- the trigger guard (presumably Hesse's work) looks fine, but the muzzle brake has a fairly ugly weld permanently affixing it to the barrel. This can be easily dressed up with a little Dremel work. The finish is rough and had several scuffs and scratches out of the box. Fit and function is fine, and the rifle seems accurate (better than average AK accuracy IMHO). The furniture is Saiga front handguard, US(?) pistol grip, and a pretty cheesy black plastic butt (obviously Hesse) with a barely useable sling swivel. There were no horrifying defects like warped reciever, canted sight post or gas block, etc., which was to be expected since Hesse did none of that work apparently. HTH
BTW--The gas tube is stock Saiga so Ultimak's Saiga type rail should work.

on the above post, did your friend have a 223 or 7.62? i was curious about the mags for 223. did u find the sights on the super adj. and decent? will the 7.62 take all std ak mags?
thanks for the info, i am considering buying one and i am almost ready to go, trying to get info on them. i bought a hesse ak in 223 a couple a years ago total carp, and the cust service sucked, had i not been an ass about it i probably would have been screwed by em. thanks.

The rifle is a basic M-47 in 7.62x39 with the standard front sight post. No problem with either the sights or mags-- chinese, Rom, or AMD 20 rounders.

Ordered 2, both front sights misalighned, both had poor finish, both already had rust. Where rear sight was, is now uncovered exposing the gas piston rod. welds were poor. Both weapons were sent back, essentially scrap metal. DO NOT BUY THIS GUN, UNLESS YOU PHYSICALLY AND CAREFULLY INSPECT!!! MY OPINION IS THAT IT WAS A PILE OF $@!$%#$$.

I see some things never change. Like Hesse's reputation. How in the world do they stay in business?

E- mailed Hesse twice about the #!&**$$% they are producing. They did not even bother to reply. Love the above Hesse factory pic.

Just a word of warning to people who have not dealt with Hesse Arms directly, don't bother. Robert Hesse lies out of both sides of his mouth (I know this from personal experience). If your going to spend the money get something good. I have a nice Bulgarian AK that was built by Gordon Technologies, they do excellent work. The moral of the story is spend the extra money and get something that was made by people who know what they are doing. I wouldn't buy a paper weight from Hesse Arms.
Rant over...
