1. This is a very nice weapon. I pictured it as it came in. I will clean her up a bit then repost pics. It has near 100% bluing and mirror bore. Very nice. It looks just like my old 7mm.

Whats the story behind these rifles Neil? Are they similar to the FR8's?

1. I have just purchased a FR8 as well, I do know that this was originally was a updated version of the 1893 long rifle, chambered form the 7mm Mauser. At some point in their career a large number were called back into the arsenal and rebarrelled to .308 for use by the Spanish Guardia Civil. It is a shorten version of the M-93 using the same basic action.
2. The FR7 and FR8 are Im not quite up to snuff on insofar as history is concerned. I do know the FR8 is a chopped down version of the Mauser also. I will post its history on this thread later after I research.

That is on my wish list. I've seen numerous postings to the effect that these were rechambered for the 7.62 CETME not 7.62 NATO. I personally have never seen any article or reference to that fact outside of individual posts. Has anyone else seen actual documentation on this or is it all just speculation/assumption?

1. Ive got the article that came with this rifle that states that the were in fact rechambered to meet .308 win or NATO standard from the old 93 Mausers. I will post the article in its entirety this evening when Im off.:)

Is that the White Laboratories report? I emailed them directly for some info but they replied that the test info is the property of the customer and not available to the general public through them.

Sorry Neil, these and the FR8's IMO are the fuggliest bolt rifles going. With the exception of the Caracano rifles, they are in a class of fuggly all by themselves. ;)
I like longer rifles because I think they look better and handle better. To me an M38 Swed is on the short side of my preferences. :D

1. They are collectors items. You have to look at it from a collectors point of view.
