Well, my $$ situation lately precludes AK's but allows Mosins and Carcanos lol.
Actually, Century's recent influx of them has me interested in them again, as I used to collect them in the 70's.

Tell me about it, I miss out on most of the deals.
Then again with this board I get to enjoy the pictures and descriptions of all the weapons that the other members buy. :)

The official name is a Model 38 Short Rifle. It has a 21 1/2 inch barrel, and is the only Carcano with a forend groove.
I have not seen this exact model pictured on Century's webpage. You can get one for $85 at SOG, however. I bought one there, paid the $10 hand select, and it is one of the finest C&R's I have ever bought.
Actually, I hear that they are selling the original Klein's scope and mount on Ebay these days in the $100+ range.
The strap is a US (Navy?) Shoulder Holster strap.
Many people are doing LHO clones these days I have read.

JES, my M38 Short Rifle arrived at my FFL 2 weeks ago and I ordered it 3 weeks ago. Nice thing was I got him to order 4 of them, but the hand select was the best. It was a Terni 1940, just like C2766, bluing was 90%, and the stock was in real good shape too. Don't feel bad if the stock and barrel s/n don't match - not many Carcanos do, not even C2766.
Your FFL should have an SOG flyer - they don't advertise this rifle on their website.
If you really want to get a Terni 1940, just like Oswald's you can also find them in Gun Auctions like this:

In fact there is a LHO clone listed there today - check it out:

PS - these Klein's scopes and mounts are coming out of Chicago as part of some old inventory of the original Klein's Sporting goods as I understand it.

Geez, checkout the bid price on the LHO clone link I posted above! That guy couldn't have more than $200 invested in that gun.
Do I smell an opportunity to make a hefty profit?:D
