Took my Styer M95/34 out for the first time today. Everything was fine for 50rds. At fifty yds I had to hold about 6" low using the 100yd sight but no biggy. Well sometime around the 50th rd she went to shit in a big way. Some of you saw the pics of her I posted. She was beautiful. Well not any more. The stock cracked on the left side near the barrel band around to the bottom and then along the bottom all the way through the web behind the trigger. When I pulled her apart the entire web in front of the trigger fell out. Nothing untoward occured at all during the session and the stock showed no cracks when I cleaned and oiled her. I'm heartbroken. Neil and the rest of you guys check your shit throughly. I've got 450rds of ammo, a barreled action and fittings now. I could just cry man. She was sweet. I don't know what happened. Any suggestions as to what occured and what I can do to restock her?

Dang that sucks!

As far as a new stock goes I would try numerich. They seem to have all kinds of weird stocks. Or it may be cheaper to just order another rifle and use that one for parts.

Who knows with the wood. Was it super cosmo logged when you got it? That stuff will rot the wood after a long time. Too dry isn't good either. Could it be you had the bands/other fasteners down to tight?

Just tossing out ideas.

No she was pretty good when I got her. Very little cosmo. I applied BLO to the interior surfaces the first time around before starting on the exterior. I always check the stock and webarea for cracks as soon as The cosmo is off. I may try for a new stock or if someone has one that has a rough bore I may unload the her and the ammo.:(
