Does anyone have any positive or negative reviews on the Cetme that SOG is selling.

all of the CETMEs are made by CENTURY...from the picture it's a special weapons receiver one (paddle rear sight...the hesse ones are the drum like the G-3. IMHO you would be better off getting the SW ones then the hesse ones.....hesse is known for it's shitty workmanship in everything they try to make.

I bought one that was built on the SW receiver, a couple of years ago, not from SOG but from CENTURY. and had a problem with it....after maxing out the the windage on it, it still was not hitting POA....sent it back and got a replacement that shot dead nuts center, that was the most common complaint of these rifle....CENTURY may have got their shit together by now, and are putting them together properly.

I really love it, the recoil is very light for a .308, about a notch or 2 above a AK. it eats and spits out any brand of ammo I feed it without a hiccup... . the price is excellent compared to what they where going for a couple years back.....I've seen the new batch of CETMEs at gun shows here....and the furniture looks really beat up, then the first batch that came out a couple of years ago. off hand HK parts are not interchangeable with CETME, maybe a few are but not all...although both have the same roller locking bolt, and appear to be the same there are still some difference in them.

if you want to do a bit of more research...try this forum.....it's a wealth of info....just look under "HK CLONES" or do a search on "CETME" it will tell you all you will need to know about them.

You should do a search at this site:

http://www.gunboards.com/forums/UltraBoard.cgi?action=Headlines&BID=30&SID=969720

Or go to Mike's website:

http://www.geocities.com/miketheelectrician1/section567.html?1011765028150

Or search this site. I went with the Century gun. Very accurate, but the front sight was canted:( . I'm in the process of fixing it, and there are a lot of options: Installing a new rear sight (like an AR-15), drilliing out the front sight post and adding a new one, or grinding it down...Whatever is wrong with a Century, you can usually fix it with some ingenuity. The reciever is solid.

I got mine from Wholesale Warehouse 395 delivered back in Dec. It is SW receiver model. I had the same problem had just the sight, but still shot way left. The front sight was canted, so I sent off to century to be fix. 2 weeks later it came back and hits dead on. The finish was crappy but a little Brownells aluma-hyde II fix that as well refinished the wood. I have about 1100rds thru it with no malfunctions. Great deal for Under 400, if your willing to do some refinishing

I got one a couple months ago. Not from SOG, but probably the same rifle. Century gun with SW (cast stainless) receiver. It had the problem with sights not zeroing at max adjustment. My dealer put in a new front post with more adjustment. Now its zeroed. I shot it again today. I like it more every time I shoot it.

Virtues:

-Low recoil for a .308. Less than a 20 ga. More than an AR, but less than an SKS. Loud muzzle blast, though. The muzzle brake works.

-Accurate. I shot 2MOA groups all day with the iron sights, at 100, 200 and 250 yards.

-Reliable. I got one bum mag that won't feed the last round reliably. Other mags have not had a misfeed in about 500 rounds.

-Ergonomics. This one is arguable, but I shopped this pretty hard against the FAL and I like the balance and feel better than the FALs I tried. FALs felt more muzzle-heavy, less well balanced to me. I like the wood, too.

-Easy to field strip and clean. I hear the FAL is easy, too. But the CETME comes apart easy. The only "extra step" is cleaning the fluted chamber. Someone tipped me to use a .45 nylon brush on the chamber, and that makes it easy. Toothbrush cleans the indents in the receiver where the rollers lock. There's no gas tube or piston to clean, either.

SARek, where did your dealer get a post with more adjustment? I'd like to have one.

The dealer didn't "get" it, he "made" it.

He ground off the existing post, then put in a new one made from drill stock. The new one is further off-center than the original, allowing more adjustment.

But there is a much better fix on the Gunboards CETME forum, in this thread.

http://www.gunboards.com/forums/UltraBoard.cgi?action=Read&BID=30&TID=4747&SID=1520660

Basically, you permanently adjust windage on the rear sight by using "mill & fill". All the details are there.

By hindsight, this is what I wish I had done. The "new post" works fine, but the straight post made from drill stock is not as authentic as the slightly triangular original.

I would do the front sight fix if you are no more than 2-3" off at 100 yards at max adjustment. The rear sight fix is probably good for more, but there's a limit on how far you can move the rear. If its more than 6" off at 100 yards, I'd send to Century to repair. I haven't heard a bad report from anyone who's done that (other than the 30-day or so turnaround).

Thanks SARek, since my sights are off about 4 MOA, I think I'll give that rear sight fix a try.

S.O.G. S.UC.K.S !!!!

Read my post, they bait and switch, will double charge you and to get things corrected will take an act of congress,

I spent most of the day on the phone trying to get almost $100.00 credited to my account because these CROOKS double charged me. I am still waiting!!!! Very unprofessional,

I would be happy to pay more and have things done in an honest manner.
