Looking for some expert opinions on the correct bayonet(s)/scabbord(s) for the following:

1903 Springfield
1917 Enfield
M1 Garand (WWII and Korean war era)

From what I've read there appears to be a number of different ones used (or will fit) on each. Just wanting to know which would be most correct for the typical issued weapon.

Like a sling, no weapon is complete without one IMO.

What era of the Springfield, WWI or WWII rebuild? The long one I think it's the 1905 pattern for WWI up to 1942 for the WWII rebuilds. WWI and post war probably until the 1930's used wood grips. Then hard rubber or plastic, not sure of the material, was used for grips.

Then they went to the 10 inch pattern bayonet in 1943, this is also the correct bayonet on Garands in Korea. The Mk V that hangs from the gas cylinder was not introduced until the war was over. The Mk V was used until Vietnam and on until the weapons were taken out of service.

The P17 uses a very long bayonet built just for the P17 Enfield. AIM has them here is a link. http://198.63.62.70/acatalog/AIM_Accessories_11.html

They're all low serial number WWI era with barrel dates of 1918 and earlier.

Thanks for the URL. I'll check it out. My wife's dad has more old bayonets than you can shake a stick at. I'll have to inspect his stock a little closer on my next visit! He's also the one that gave me the 1863 musket (just pulled it out of a stack of them in his rafters).
