Picked up my new Browning Hi-Power clone yesterday and went to the local range.
First, a quick admission. It has been over 10 years since I fired a handgun, so consider that as you continue.
The FEG is an exact copy of the Browning Hi-Power 9mm single action semi auto. The first thing I did after purchase, was to buy and install a set of Hogue rubber finger grips. The OEM wood grips were very pretty, but I prefer the Hogues.
The quality of this gun is excellent. Absolutely no machine tool marks anywhere with a wonderful, deep blue over the entire gun.
I was able to field strip the FEG and a real BHP side by side. All parts appeared identical, and the only way to tell the difference was by brand name. BTW, cost for the FEG was $279, while the BHP I was comparing it to was $679.
At the range, I used Remington UMC 115 grain FMJ 9mm ammo. This gun was literally fired directly out of the box, with only the grip change.
Please remember, this is the first time in over 10 years fireing a handgun. All shooting was done with a two hand offhand hold at 25 feet.
First 10 rounds were placed within a 6 inch circle with 2 flyers, one high, one low. 4 of the shots were within 1 1/2 inches, in the black.
Second 10 rounds, within 4 inch circle, 1 flyer to the bottom right. 6 of the shots were within 1 3/4 inches, in the black.
Third 10, within 5 1/2 inch circle, no flyers, 4 shots within the black at 1 1/4 inches. All rounds were a little left of POA.
Fourth 10, within 3 inch circle, 1 flyer low, 6 in the black at 2 1/2 inches.
Fifth 10, fired as rapid fire double taps. Largest DT pair was 2 inches, closest set was one jagged hole. All 10 were within 6 1/2 inch circle, with 3 being in the black.
The gun functioned perfectly, with no problems whatsoever. Trigger pull was a very noticeable 2 stage, which worked very well for me.
Considering the double latte I had for breakfast, lack of practice, and, admittedly, a little shakiness on my part, I was VERY pleased with the accuracy of this gun. I'm sure that it will be able to put the rounds exactly where I want them after a little practice. I would highly recommend this gun to anyone who is considering purchasing one.
I will try to post some pictures ASAP.
