1. I will make the before and after pics here. I lemon oiled, tung oiled, and cleaned and oiled the metal. This is as is. The wood was so dry it took four coats of tung oil to before it stopped soaking it in.

1. A little crown on an eagle. Also the Mauser stamps along with the date. I will post here.:cool:

I will try for better pics later. The is the GEW98 stamp on the side and to the left you can see the blurred crown and on top of what appears to be a letter R

That brought out the wood color variation around the bottom of the stock quite nicely.;)

Looks great! Mine is dry too, same markings, 1918. What a bargain at $129 IMO. I'll give a good report of mine later in the week if possible.
