The combination barrel band and sling ring appears to require a special tool to unscrew the bolt pinching the band together. It's one of those odd bolt heads, flat/round top with 2 notches (not too unlike a stock cross bolt).
The question: is there a special tool available to unscrew this bolt or does anyone know of an alternative gizmo, do hicky to do the job?

I just take a cheapy, flat blade screwdriver and grind out the center with a dremel until it fits.

Richards idea is better than mine. All I could think of at the time was taking a cheapie screwdriver and sharpening it to a point, then putting the point into one of the holes in the nut and gently tapping it counterclockwise until it started unscrewing.
I just thought of another way: Take a pair of "C" clip pliers and they should work really good.

Actually the tool will work for the 36, 36/51 and the 49/56 but you'll need to make a much smaller one for the nosecap scerw on the MAS36. I would recommend taking that one out as seldom as possible as it is/can be a major pain in the ass.
