Do the hammer spring ends sit on the receiver or on the trigger?

As far as the hammer's concerned, they can sit either place. But the proper location is on the trigger pin, as the hammer spring legs are what keep the trigger pin from walking out.

If you use anti-walk pins, and want a lighter hammer fall, you can choose to put the hammer spring legs on the floor of the receiver.

You can even install the hammer spring backwards to get a lighter trigger pull (but that will put less retaining pressure the trigger pin, also).

I've seen rifles built without a trigger spring (using the disconnector spring to provide reset force for the trigger upon release) and with the hammer spring deliberately installed backwards to achieve a very light trigger with all standard parts.

Thanks,I wasn't 100%positive that's how it was supposed to be,after installing the RSA FCG I tried to put the safety back in and the safety yoke kept hitting one of the "ends". I guess I may have to file down the trigger, but not really, all I have to do is move it out of the way with a screw driver. Circuits, the sheperds hook keeps the trigger group pin from walking out,not the hammer spring.

Yes, the AR forums... :)

On an AK, the hammer spring ends do go on the trigger, and provide the reset/return force for the trigger in the absence of a separate AK trigger spring.
