drilling into my ar?

just looking at my AR-15 A2 GOVMNT. CARBINE and was wondering if I could make my stock from 2 position to 4 position bt drilling another set of holes.(gunsmith actually)is this possible I bought this rifle in 3/94 (just in time)for $1200 new was that a good deal?I have not seen very many model 6520's lately but the last one I did see was at a gun show here in dallas and it was $2000

Yes, you can add additional positions to your telestock by drilling or milling additional holes in the telestock buffer tube.

Yes, you could do a lot of things but wouldn't that degrade and detract from its worth by changing the original configuration? I, personally, would think twice before doing it. JMHO
