I've sent them a little note indicating that we'd love to review them (someone gave me the idea :D). Maybe we'll get a review sample. I know I'd buy at least two if they work out as well as they look.

A review from one of our trusted member's would be most excellent.:)

Well if you're looking I'll do the review. Now if I can just figure out how to post pictures again on this web site. I just keep getting the dreaded red-x.

I was thinking (dangerous, I know), that we might pass around a sample between three or four of us and each write our impression. That way we could get input from guys with different levels of shooting and mechanical skill. That is NOT how I pitched the idea to Redstar Arms, however I can't help but think the more exposure he gets, the better it would be for his sales.
BTW, got an email back from Charles at Redstar indicating he thought this is a good idea and he was forwarding our request to Tom Jones, the maker of Mojo sights.

I have one on my AK that I don't particularly like. I would be open to passing it around to fellow members for a review....
Let me know.

Ok Shawn, what don't you like about it?

I think the eye relief is wrong. It sits like a foot away from your eye. The peep on my 10/22, AR, FAL, etc sits on top of my eye. You are hardly aware of the peep site when you are using the gun, you just focus on the front site. With the MOJO, the peep site is big and fat, and blocks a good deal of visibility. You can still see the front site post, but I think the MOJO is really just good for shooting paper. I can't imagine trying to follow a moving target with it.
I will sell anyone here the peep site for $20 + shipping (shouldn't be much) if they want it.

Well yes, the rifles and the position of their sights is at the receiver end so sure they are close to the eye and sure that's the best place for it to be.
The Mojo is a peep were the open sights are. It's not going to be as nice a sight picture as up close to the eye versions of a peep sight work, I already expected that. I'm curious to see if it gives a better sight picture, a more repeatable sight picture than do the stock open iron sights.
Heck I'll buy it! PM me for details.

srv565s,
Thanks for the input and the offer. I'm interested in how the peep works for me on a long-relief sight system as well. All of the peeps I've used have been pretty much up in my face, but my logic tells me that the only big difference should be the length of sight plane as long as the aperture of the peep is suited for the long relief.
Also, I don't own an AK, so my interest is definitely towards Mosins and Mausers.
Z,
I was going to wait a day to email Mr. Jones, but since this thread has generated some interest, I zip him off one this afternoon.

Just received email from Mr. Jones

So, since my C&R collection is a tad limited, I'm thinking a Mosin, model for my M44. Would that work for the rest of you that wanted to test it as well?

I think a mosin sight would be fine :)

I was hoping you'd do a Mauser sight. :(

I tried and failed to put the Mojo on my M-44 last week. I took the rifle over to my friends house and we were not able to drive the pin out of the sight. Kroil on it now for another attempt.
It looks like they are right that it might be a two man job.

Uh oh. :o If I like the Mosin sight, I'll be buying a Mauser for my 98/22. The notch on that puppy is almost unusable for my middle-aged eyes.

I hear that on the middle aged eyes and V notched rear Mauser sights. I'm there with you. (Sigh) :(

I just ordered one for my Czeck 98/22 Mauser... I'll let you know what I think about it. The tiny V-notch in the stock sights is hard to aquire quickly, but I can shoot well with it. I wanted to try some new sights though since the lowest setting on the current stock sights (Turk sights) shoots pretty high at 100 yards. That's no good. I was shooting at 600 yards today at the lowest setting and it was right on target! :( And the sight ramp goes 15 clicks up from there!
I wasn't sure from the web site if the mojo sights are field adjustable for elevation or not. (Do you have to use an allen wrench and/or can you simply *click* adjust for different elevations?) If not, I'll set the sights for 200-300 yards I guess.
Does anybody have a balistics chart/diagram for the 8mm surplus ammo around? Turk surplus or bettter yet Equador surplus?
