Barrel bands are the hardest thing for most to get off. Turks come in many configurations. Sometimes the bands are held on with a through bolt. Often the bolt head is buggerd up and the slot is almost not there. These can be a real pain in the ass to get off.
Barrel band springs can be broken when attempting to pry them out of the slot so be careful. They should have a rod at the back end that goes in a hole. The trick is in getting a small screw driver under the spring as far as you can go back to it's root and lift as straight as possible without putting the post or rod thingie in a bind in the hole, this is how it can be broken off.
does anyone have a problem with the hand guard moving up when you fire it. Moving up . . . do you mean scoot towards the muzzle on the rifle? If so no, I've never had a loose handguard. All have been rock tight on my Mausers Turk or otherwise.
