I hear that the good ones are at SOG..... I hate SOG myself and am looking for a different source, but nonetheless I am told that they have some good ones..... I think the price is right around $200 for a decent one....

Navy Arms (where SOG gets their's) or Springfield Sporters are the two I'd suggest. Navy isn't as big a pain to deal with as the maggots at SOG!

Springfield Sporters is very old fashioned, no computers. However, they do have honest grading on their weapons. They do also headspace most of their weapons and test fire them before they sell them. If they don't they ask you to sign a nonfiring statement to help them out on liability issues if you blow your head off with a rifle you purchase from them! :D

Phone number is: 724-254-2626.

I called Navy today to order a Ishapore in .308 but they are out! However, they still have the .303's.

The fellow that I spoke with would only say that they were out of stock, but would not comment on whether or not they would be getting any more.

1. SOG is good for the #1 right now and InterOrdnance has the #4 Savage in good condition for $150.00 or there abouts.:)

Within the last week I got a No.1 MkIII and a No.5 MkI from SOG.

The No.5 is a true jungle carbine with all correct lightening cuts and matching numbers, right down to the individual stock pieces and magazine. My only complaint was the wood looks like shit, though much better now that I restored it. Still need a better butt pad (rubber part).

The No.1 MkIII looked like it was drug behind a camel on its way to hell and back with Audie Murphy. Good to very good is what it was called. I'd say fair at best though. It'll look OK once I'm finished, but I can see I'm going to have to look around for a better one sometime.

Every order from SOG is a risky one I think. I've had good luck with them overall, but.......Food for thought.

I just saw the buttpad for the #5 on Tapco's esale yesterday. It was pretty cheap too if I remember correctly. I dont have the link to the esale but their site is www.tapco.com. Or call them and mention the e-sale.
