All the other model of rifles have rear sights that are regulated to the 198 gr. sS heavy bullet that replaced the lighter 155 gr. bullet. All your other 8 mm rifles you listed are designed for the 198 gr. bullet AFAIK, including the Persian. Got a buddy with 3 of them and he shoots that bullet type in them all the time.

Care to explain? What should one use that isn't too expensive? The Turk stuff may not be the most accurate but unless it will damage my gun i'd rather be able to shoot the gun freely vs having to ration out my ammo due to cost :)

For semi's yes, but I am under the impression that a robust bolt action rifle, with Peter Paul Mausers' strong locking lugs like the m48 can handle the pressures...just my .02 cents

Hell with this stuff... go to InterOrd or FAC, and buy several cases of the '72-'74 Rommanian 8 mm :) Fairly fresh, cheap, and works VERY well in my M48....

What's all this whining about too hot?:D
I've been shooting PRVI out of my Carcanos and that stuff flattens primers and craters them sound the firing pin indent. And ole Bubba told me that Carcanos will "blow up on ya" haha.
Geez. don't sweat it, and if your concerned about too high of pressures, buy a Arisaka 6.5mm. Postwar tests proved there's no way to blowup that gun, even if you fill the case to the top with fast burning ball powder (which supposedly turned an 03 Springfield into a grenade)..

I shot some yugo ammo in my turk38 out of a 15rd box 5 failed to fire. Got some turk ammo 6bucks a bandoleer every rd fired. cheap and decently accurate.

The Yugoslav 8 mm has hard primers and deep primers. Any that I've fired that failed to go on the first firing pin hit went on the 2nd hit.
The Interordnance Romanian 8 mm suffers from neither problem AFAIK. It's aslo much newer having been made between 1970 and 75.
